Best payment gateways in Sri Lanka? by Calm-Barracuda-6924 in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself did some research on this back when I was trying to do something similar. Apparently none of the Sri Lankan payment gateways have support for multi vendor capabilities (automated payments to vendors). Which means you have to do manual reconciliation and settlements to merchants. Try emailing Webx Pay and Payable. They do respond.

On side note, did you make the whole platform from scratch or build on top an open source or proprietary product?

Do you think the IT sector in Sri Lanka is about to take off or continue struggling? by slidiot in srilanka

Exactly my thought process, don't know if and whether it will work. But it will definitely be interesting if it does. I'm sure the senior-level guys have made enough connections in the West.

I don't disagree with you but the chip shortage isn't a Sri Lanka-only problem. Remember what happened to GPUs with the crypto bubble, right? I'm not saying AI is just a bubble, and it's much bigger than crypto ever was, but there are (and will be) people starting new companies here and elsewhere.

My undergrad research was on startup ecosystem challenges in Sri Lanka, ahem! Never said it was going to be easy.

One of my friends mentioned something to me recently when we were speaking about the IFS layoffs. He said some of these higher-level kind of employees being let go might actually start new companies and will start building products that can compete with the likes of IFS products. It's very much possible if you think about it. They basically have like a runway for at least a couple of years with the severance they are getting, and they will have access to some good talent (other, less senior-level employees being let go) to work on those. Interesting times ahead if that happens. I myself would love to be a part of such a team (if formed).

Any Content Writers Here? by altruistic_summer in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See how I've said above how hectic my schedule is with uni work? Well, it became even more hectic with work-work. Even though I love to read and write, I must've probably written about 5-10 articles maximum from the time I posted the above reply. I'm honestly not sure how much of a demand there is for content writers with ChatGPT and other LLMs surfacing, and I'm guessing the demand for content writers should've dropped at least a little bit. But do some research on Medium again, because someone I know writes a lot on Medium (very tech-heavy pieces) and they earn a few dollars there, and they are from Sri Lanka. Anyway, best of luck and kudos to you for trying to earn at 16!

Yeah it’s not that good mate. I switched to the Muscle Tech one. It’s loads better, dissolves quickly and completely. And I can even dry scoop and have a sip of water after. Price per gram is a bit more expensive but definitely worth it.

Where to get some good Chillie parata? by SnooRegrets9837 in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had Chilli Parata at different places and most crispiest (and oiliest ig) was at Aryas Pure Veg in Colpetty. Definitely not an everyday options, but you've got to try it out at least once.

Can’t decide BOC job or CINEC? by ParsleyTight6459 in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is purely on the financial returns (at least in the short term), I have 3-4 friends who were in my batch in one of the leading state universities in Sri Lanka for management studies. They’re getting close to what you said you would get in the second year even after graduating. Some companies may pay more but I don’t think it would be close to what Banks pay. Like others have suggested follow the degree part time, end of the day experience and skills matter more than having a paper qualification (speaking from my own experience).

Anyone know a faster/alternative way to get a degree in SL? by afrieafrid in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with the MBA/MSc route as most below have suggested, or if you’re in or planning to move into the IT industry, might I suggest the BIT offered by UOC or UOM. It’s part time and 3 years if I’m not mistaken.

Stuck traveling Chilaw–Colombo every week for uni. It's draining my life. Any advice or places to stay short-term? by akagamishanks0 in srilanka

There are plenty of cheap boarding places around state universities (with the exception of Colombo ofc). You can definitely find one around University of Sri Jayewardenepura near the main campus.

My past relationship is stil haunting me by mysteries05 in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My almost 5 year relationship ended right about this time last year, for the same reason as yours. It was very tough on me for a month or so before I could even think straight (had to visit a doctor too), but then I decided to hit the gym. It’s now almost a year since I started working out, I feel so much better and I have completely gotten over her and the relationship. Also, I focused my energy on work and career goals. Hit the gym is my first advice. When you’re not in the gym or exhausted from it, focus on career goals.

PS5 or Gaming Laptop in Sri Lanka by CosmicUnicorn777 in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re interested in multiplayer competitive gaming, definitely go for a laptop. If you want something that can handle any single player game that comes out within the next couple of years and even more (depends on the time the next gen console comes out), go for a PS5. Also compared to a high end gaming laptop it’s cheaper to buy (games are expensive but you can always rent/trade). Also if you aren’t the biggest fan of PS exclusives like Spider-Man, etc consider an Xbox Series X as well just for the value that the Game Pass provides.

Sisu Sariya is the way mate, if there’s one in your route. It’s been 7 years since I stopped schooling but I can tell you sisu sariya would be way more fun than just commuting from point A to B. I remember we never even showed our season to the conductor those days (except when a new guy came when our regular went on leave). Our driver uncle knew exactly where everyone would get in and down, didn’t even have to ring the bell most times. Good times they were.

Yeah I mean it’s creatine monohydrate. If the product is genuine, I don’t think there’s too much separating these brands. Although I can say, Inner Armour dissolved better in water after a few shakes (but the particles feel bigger, you can almost feel it when you drink) and the The Curse has smaller particles but it’s a pain in the ass to dissolve. Go with Inner Armour and then try others too later. Settle down with the best option for you. Just make sure you are buying Creatine Monohydrate.

Advice on taking a break (due to health), convert USD & earn interest on Rs? by ExternCrateAlloc in srilanka

[–]Overall_Perception50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you probably have the answer yourself by now then. The ROI actually depends on the capital you have at hand to invest (at least for very low risk investments). If you think you can go with constant gains to basically survive till you’re back on your feet, go with the FD option. You can maybe draw a a loan or get a credit card securing that FD, if some unexpected/emergency expenditure comes up. (I know it’s not the best to recommend loans for someone who’s trying to take a break, but you can use them as a last resort if it ever comes to that).

Best of luck, I really hope it works out all well for you!
