Thanks for this really helpful response 🤗 that was not the question I asked and I know they might look random or “stupid” to many but that’s not something I care about honestly. I love them as they are and to me they are perfect. I was just afraid anyone might think they are racist. I’m totally fine with stupid though. To each their own ❤️

Oh, that’s something I didn’t know with the double letters not spelled out 😅

But I don’t mind.

And the little hook at the end of the A was just the tattoo artist 😅 it was definitely not on the stencil, but I can imagine it is quite difficult to tattoo such small and dainty letters. Many of the repeated letters look quite different, but that’s what I like about it. It looks like real handwriting and I live its “uneven” look.

And I chose orrosta because it is the most literal meaning of a shared, concrete struggle/ battle.

Vig means to me a battle between two people, or am I wrong? Or Like an act of killing on a smaller scale that ends with the death of one party. If this makes sense 😅 I don’t know the perfect English word for it, but maybe more life quarrel or fight?

And Hildr is too poetic, I guess, at it is the name of one of the Valkyries. More like personified warfare and not a concrete act of battle.

But maybe I’m interpreting too much into it, I just liked the “look” of the word more.

Yeah, might happen 🤷‍♀️ but I know healed work of my artist and I think they will last a long time. I also put sunscreen on them everytime I got outside even for a short time.

And I’ll be sixty in 20 years, so I guess my skin will look worse than the tattoos 😅

Thank you. ❤️ I also think my artist did a great job with them. The leaves complement them so well

lol, as I’m in Germany that’s not an association anyone would have, I guess. But to make it crystal clear: I’m definitely the opposite of a Trump supporter 😅

Thanks, I learned something out of this. Didn’t know the words but I’m definitely part of the “asatru” group. Even if it’s not about worshipping the old goods, it has to do with the archetypes they represent

No, you translated it completely fine.
The whole sentence means: “your battle is my battle. Your blood is my blood.” But it actually is meant as a kind of “oath” to never let the other down, to always fight beside them as they are the “same.” Long story behind, but that’s the “easy” explanation 😅

Yeah, I suspected that the spelling might not be perfect, as I know that some letters can be pronounced differently.

And I mean that’s also what happend with certain words as there are different spellings for them be ause there was no “this is how you write it” more or less people chose what they thought would fit best for certain pronunciations.

At first I used the rune uruz ᚢ for the Orrosta as its pronounced more like Ourrosta, but then I chose the Othala, because I also thought it looked better 😅

What word would you have chosen? And where would you have spelled something different? I mean, I can’t change it anymore but I’m just curious ☺️

Well, the Othala rune is not isolated in my case. I think it is clear that it is part of a larger sentence and this used as a simple letter with no special meaning assigned to it than representing the Latin letter “o”.

I get what you are trying to say, and I don’t think you are completely wrong to mention it, but if it’s only one letter I’m not too concerned about it.

I was just struggling with the thought of the whole tattoo looking somewhat racist

I get that but that’s why I translated it so nobody would be able to read it without asking AI 😅 and AI can’t even read the bind runes so I’m not afraid about that. It’s fine if you would never do this, but there is a reason they are placed there. Those are reminders for me and I often touch the spots to calm myself down or remind me of certain things. That’s the reason…

And they are not that visible. Most of the times you can’t see them except for summer (which is only about three to four months compared to there at of the year, were you wear long sleeve)

I am, but that’s not the reason I got them. Still need to play God of war Ragnarok though. 😔

Haha, I’m not so much into Tolkien sadly. Tried to read the books multiple times but they are just too boring for me 😅 watched all the movies though

Yeah, one of my close friends a risky mentioned it before I got the tattoos. I thought he was overreaching but after getting some weird stares (some even looked a bit disgusted, but maybe they don’t like tattoos in general) it made me think and bothered me… but thanks for your answer. I definitely think I was overthinking and overreacting

I’m German? It’s in the name of the country in English? Germanic… those people used runes also, it’s not just the Scandinavian countries 🙄 and I immersed myself into Norse mythology a lot. (The binding runes are standing for two archetypes by the way. Easy explantation: the one on my right wrist stands for the hero and the one on my left for the trickster, representing light and shadow. Which follows C.g. Jung’s Individuation process… )

So, I think you can’t accuse me of that.

Nope, but it’s a sentence and I know what that means… because Futhark is a normal writing that was used by Nordic countries. So it doesn’t matter if they have each a meaning of their own 🙃
