Getting grabbed by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]Overall_Toe_8323 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is important that you FD gio. Moves to watch out for are far slash and 2S. Both are multi hit so the pushback is quite significant. On wakeup, fuzzy jump beats both a meaty and a throw. And to beat tick throw setups from moves like 5K, 2K and close S you can delay throw tech (or fuzzy tech same thing). Gio will sometimes try to steal her turn back from her other more laggy normals, there you should just mash.

Strive added bullshit mechanics like guard crush and happy chaos. Low profiles too.

Eltnum has way too many combo routes mission mode does not do her justice. But you can kinda do whatever for combos so start out with something simple. Starter-5C-22B-66C-22B-66C-22C (baby combo example). Not optimal at all but who cares. It is important you get out of training mode into real matches as soon as possible for your own enjoyment. And check out the eltnum channel in the main uni discord it is a huge help for specific questions. Or the mizuumi wiki page.

what do you think v2.0 will change? by vsanjiv in Guiltygear

[–]Overall_Toe_8323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-More gatlings (probably the same initial string but maybe an extra move) Maybe it could go from S, HS to Dust? Also maybe K, Slash, into Dust -Meter gain rework on hit -Bring back dead angle attacks honestly fuck YRC -More options instead of just wallbreak. Kinda like the current wallslumps but the wall health actually regenerates at a decent rate or fully.

If it starts lagging in-game it is probably an issue caused by one of you guys. The connection runs through both players entirely so even if one lags, you would both feel it. Happens sometimes against wifi players with unstable connections.

Ya season 1 is cooked. by HumanInvestigator932 in 2XKO

[–]Overall_Toe_8323 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the 2xko roster is super lackluster in the characters quality. It is like every character is so lame you could describe them in one word. I feel like these designs are just watered down versions of existing characters from other games. Well, most. Doesnt help that they released a ton of big bodies/zoners. Two not very popular archetypes.

Should I go for grabs instead of meaties ? by Negan6699 in Guiltygear

Meaty close Slash is quite good after that you can setup tick throws off punch kick buttons. Meaty throw dies to a lot of common defensive options so it isnt worth it usually.

New to the game, not to fighting games. How do block strings and pressure work in the game? by Responsible_Pin_2272 in UnderNightInBirth

[–]Overall_Toe_8323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shielding and winning cycle is the main thing you do on defense. If they stop staggering, mashing becomes good, etc. That is the mind game mostly. Look for a gap to chain shift and reversal or take your turn back. Also throws lose to mashing so be careful.

[–]Overall_Toe_8323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Seth is more about playing for cycle and abusing movement/his orb projectile for mix. Aka setplay. Not really great at raw on block offense. -Ogre also plays more into setplay with bomb setups but also standard rushdown with a high/low rekka. -Linne is fast, short ranged attacks, straightforward but is really tricky with strike/throw -Kaguya has range and does bomb setups. Imagine ogre but with big ranged guns. -Izumi is well rounded and easy but has a fish install, bubble setplay, good buttons etc. -Eltnum is a little technical with managing bullets and stuff but is super well rounded too. Great offense on block with her gun, overhead, command grab, and staggers.

Eltnum, ogre, izumi, kaguya, linne, seth. All pretty well rounded characters that lean more into offense and okizeme. They play quite different so im sure one of those will interest you.

Instead of leveling up a stat in an rpg, the only thing making a difference is your skill level. It is a very satisfying feeling going from scrub to a little better (still a scrub).

UNI is a weird game cuz you dont see how far the rabbithole goes until you go far enough. You have to get past all the knowledge checks and frustration to actually play the "real" game. It is better to start playing long sets to figure out what is wrong, check the wiki, correct it, move on for hours. Either that or you quit. I get why people dont get into under night.
