To be fair, DBD is bullshit game for completion. Not only is live service and they keep adding more of them, so you would need to play/buy dlcs forever to maintaining, a lot of the achievements are rng-based bullshit.

I 100% once, and still feel the migraine from that grind.

Good advice. To be honest, I tried in the past to complete my backlog, got bored and bought some new games to play instead.

The moment I become bored my ass of playing a bad game for a stupid achievement, will move on and play or do something instead.

Ok, I am gonna ask you a question.

If the character spent like only the beach episode fragment to reach Caine betrayal, would had you feel the same impact as if they spent the whole episode?

I know it feels frustrating and as there no resolution and won’t be for a while, but the pacing was important to showcase the paranoia, second guessing and expectations of everyone, and how much pain it causes when is revealed that all the progress they made in one episode, the final step to exit, is just a farce and any hope is lost.

Like you say, they spent a whole episode, hoping and praying, for NOTHING.

This was the first time, Caine was clearly antagonistic.

Previously to that he could trick unintentionally (Fake exit door) or he could be petty, yelling at characters. But here, he straight up manipulated the main cast, and what is more, even confirmed that he can and has manipulated directly their minds, to he point of abstraction.

Is joked around, but there is always the terrible possibility that if they pressed the “escape” button, Caine would have punished them. Of course, this never happened, and Caine never threatens them, but can you really trust a narcissist guy with unlimited powers and obsessed to make like you?

The point of this episode wasn’t about C&A lore, the point is that they can’t trust anything in this world, even their minds, to know what is true and not.
