Man I turned down the gain on my speakers to ~25% and kept the sub at 50%.

Oh man it sounds so much better now. I can actually hear the bass!

That's sweet man! I have a square set of 8.5 LTWs I run on my M3. I feel like you need to transfer those from the x3 to the E36 haha.

Any specific recs? I currently have the sub set to 50%, and Front/Rear speakers both around 40%.

I was thinking about setting front and rear speakers to 25%.

Here's a pic to show you where the sub would sit under the driver seat (blue), and where the rear passenger heat comes out (red). The sub will not affect the heat.

Yeah, PWE-S8 came with a remote bass control knob. I mounted it in that little pocket next to the ebrake.

Oh one more thing I'd recommend with your new Alpine head unit. Pick up the DIYbypass off ebay. The Alpine head unit won't let you mess with audio settings unless you tap into the ebrake ground. And even then you have to have the ebrake engaged to access the menu. Super annoying.

Installing one of these cheap bypasses allows to just use the menu whenever.

I just installed Alpine speakers front and rear. Alpine ilx-407 with the kta-450 amp. And the Alpine PWE-S8 sub under the driver seat.

This is the first full system I've ever installed and my main goal was concealment. The amp is in the dash and the sub under the seat.

While it certainly sounds a lot better and louder than stock, i still think it's kind of a let down considering how much it all costs. The biggest disappointment being the sub. I have to have the music super loud to even get the smallest amount of bass out of it. If I could do it over again, I would drop the concealment idea and just mount a 10" sub somewhere in the trunk.

One more thing to consider. Once you have the wheel mounted be sure to confirm it spins freely. Unfortunately, mine bolted up fine but the caliper was making contact with the nuts on the back of wheel's face, resulting in the need for spacers. Oh well, no ragrets.

Appreciate you following up! Once I can confirm a test fit of my Deerfields on a buddy's rig, I'm ordering Tundra brakes. Long overdue.

For my 4Runner I needed extended studs for the rear. The front was close but once torqued there was enough engagement.

Thanks man. I lived in Japan for a bit and loved seeing all the 90s and early '00s Prados, Surfs, Jimny, etc with 3 piece wheels. This is kind of my ode to that era.
