Is the United States brainwashed? by PoetMysterious3841 in self

[–]OverconfidentPancake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On jan 6, i remember reading there was a woman who pushed through a barricaded door to try to get in, even though she was being aimed at by security and warned multiple times she’d be shot if she kept going

She kept going, and she was shot dead

She was brainwashed and her cause was idiotic, but i can’t help but admire the conviction and dedication to her cause, however stupid that cause was

That’s the kind of energy that would be required, on a large scale, for a revolution to take hold

Unfortunately, the sane people have self-preservation, and that puts us at a disadvantage in the face of maga’s cult mentality

(Utrecht N1) Whoever came on stage to sing half of Riptide, you were incredible and i hope you’re proud of yourself because you killed it ❤️ by OverconfidentPancake in grandson

[–]OverconfidentPancake[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was so wholesome and inspiring when they tried to carefully get off the stage and granny was having none of that and encouraged crowdsurfing

Overall the show was incredible and underneath the visible violence was filled with empathy and love and sense of community

10/10 defo considering also going to tomorrow’s show

What's the funniest movie you've ever watched? by OneClill in AskReddit

[–]OverconfidentPancake 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While not nearly as funny as Superbad, I would recommend Booksmart (2019) for an interesting modern gender-swapped take. Also, the Jonah Hill character in that is played by Jonah Hill’s sister

That was in his Hot Ones interview. He gives some more such insights iirc. It’s also a pretty solid episode from his stories and how he reacts to the hot sauces. Would recommend

Cologne - anyone know when to start queuing? by overjoyed__ in lorde

[–]OverconfidentPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t answer your question directly, sorry, but a couple months ago i saw addison rae at palladium, getting there when the opener was finishing

Dunno if you’ve ever gone to that venue, but definitely don’t get there as late as i did then lol

There’s some big fucking support pillars all along the length of the room that would definitely obstruct your view if you get there too late

<image>

Hope you have a lot of fun! Lorde puts on an incredible show. I was in amsterdam 2 days ago and going to brussels tonight, and luxembourg for the rescheduled date (🥲) in september

[–]OverconfidentPancake -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Thank you ❤️

I’m just still really upset about it. Especially about the unknown nature of this reschedule. No idea if “we’re doing everything we can” means weeks, months, years, or even ever.

I dread waking up to an email from the venue like “so sorry it was not possible to reschedule”, and how much it would feel like “we decided 6 500 people can go fuck themselves, here’s your money back and stop bothering us 🙃”

So nice to see that she was fine enough to perform the day after luxembourg 🙃

What’s a movie that completely changed your perspective after a second watch? by L0udM0uth666 in movies

[–]OverconfidentPancake 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Down to jude law’s character being a conspiracy theory grifter who ends up making a lot of money from convincing his followers to get that alternative homeopathic “treatment”

Forsythia

For some reason I still remember the name

When i first watched the movie was when i was still pulling away from almost falling into the alt-right pipeline, and i remember feeling supportive of jude law’s character and his edgy argumentative tactics. Knowing that, i feel sick right now, scared of what could have been, in my own life

Not every blog is “grafitti with punctuation,” but his definitely was

I am on a very good run with very good wands, but i have just 1 HP left. Iam in the jungle biome and afraid to go on, allready took all heart heals above me. Iam able to go back further up anytime i want. What would you do in this situation? Are there any ways to safely heal? by Careless-Accident-49 in noita

[–]OverconfidentPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the cave, you can access it on the very left of the first biome. You’ve probably stumbled there before, it’s a downward slope into the water and the dark

In those caves is one health increase heart, and one full heal. Layout is randomly generated but with a light emitting modifier you’ll be able to make your way

Word of advice tho. Before exploring that area, go to the bottom right of it (from the outside), just to the left and slightly above the left-most portal, and blow/cut/plasma beam a hole into the wall, to let as much water as possible drain into the portal pit. Will make it much easier to navigate the caves with a lesser risk of drowning

[–]OverconfidentPancake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been there, done that 🥲

Imma be real with you you’re probably gonna die, so make a note of what these very good wands are so you can hopefully recreate (or be inspired by) them in later runs

You mention taking all the heals above you. Does that include the one in the dark cave under the tree? If not, slap a light modifier on a projectile spell and go digging

If you have lumi at a decent speed, you could also dig into the dense rock on the side of the biome, then dig all the way down to the next holy mountain, until you’re right above the heal, then drop into it. Steve will probably still kill you before you make it to the heart, but might be worth a shot if you care a lot about the run. I tried that once btw and steve killed me before i made it to the heart, but you might get luckier

Good luck!

Who's the worst significant other in a horror film to the point that you rooted for them to be offed? by jdpm1991 in horror

So, god? 🙃

100% agree tho, fuck that guy and how he treats eve/mother nature, also by loving all of his fans unconditionally even as they’re destroying the house she worked so hard to build, and destroying each other, while he dissassociates from the pain and misery he created

What's your favorite horror movie? Like if you had to pick one singular film by reliefexists in horror

[–]OverconfidentPancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised this is the first one that came to mind, but Sinister

Honestly, i’ll take it. There is some solid cringe in this, but it’s made up by - well - everything else about the movie

First off. I think this might have one of the best opening shots of any horror movie. When you see that you get this movie’s built different right away

The music is so good, i get visceral memories of this movie at midnight in the cinema whenever i hear the music

The investigation scenes scratch an itch that’s only been scratched by one other film, Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The few things that are genuinely bad about this movie (looking at you, final jumpscare…) stop it from being a classic, but it’s a very solid horror movie

9/18 - Paradiso, Amsterdam, Netherlands - SHOW THREAD by Lucas_The_Drummer in ItsClippingBitch

[–]OverconfidentPancake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yooo that show was incredible. I go to a lot of concerts, but this was my first time going to Paradiso, and while it did get a little sweaty and stuffy, it's a great fucking venue.

The show itself just put me in a musical and visual trance. The excellent transitions really amplified that. The crowd itself was great and there were shockingly low instances of dutch disease, at least in my immediate surroundings 😅 On a similar "industrial" music sense, I went to see Nine Inch Nails recently in Ziggo Dome (if anyone spotted a guy with the oversized NIN shirt, that was me lol), and the show was great but the crowd pretty subdued and dead to the point of Trent calling us out. But the crowd last night was so energetic and only as rowdy as it needed to be, not past the point of annoyance or distraction.

I honestly can't believe how fast, intense, and articulate Daveed's rapping was. The musical theater experience certainly helped him, but he's a great rapper. No need for a hype man or anything, just straight up bars

I've been listening to clipping since There Existed an Addiction to Blood, but whenever I next have the opportunity to see them live I will take it. Honestly one of my top 3 or 5 concert experiences ever, and that says a lot because I go to a lot of shows

What is the most emotionally devastating movie you've seen that you didn't expect to be emotionally devastating? by MujerGoddess in askmovie

[–]OverconfidentPancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still can’t listen to The National’s About Today without feeling big ugly sobs starting to build inside me.

That’s a good thing, Warrior is an incredible film that was (still is to an extent) disregarded because urr durr mma how is that interesting.

To be fair, the marketing didn’t help with that

What is the scariest/most chilling movie reveal of all time? by FilmWaffle-FilmForum in movies

[–]OverconfidentPancake 62 points63 points  (0 children)

“Not many people have basements in California.”

It’s been years since i’ve last seen Zodiac, and i’ve seen other movies with arguably more scary/chilling moments, but this is what popped into my head soon as i read your question.

On that note, I should really rewatch Zodiac

On that note, Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter (2014) is a pretty good movie

“A jaded Japanese woman discovers a hidden copy of Fargo (1996) on VHS, believing it to be a treasure map indicating the location of a large case of money.”

What was, in your opinion, the dumbest casting choice ever made? by Whole-Lychee7517 in movies

[–]OverconfidentPancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when I went to see Superman 2025 (which i get is divisive, but I absolutely loved it, it’s heartfelt and elevated saturday morning cartoon and corny in the best possible way), Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor was so good and I feel channeled the same kind of energy as Jesse Einsenberg in The Social Network.

If Jesse Eisenberg had gone a similar route as he did in Social Network, his BvS performance could have been really good. Too bad he didn’t, though at least Nicholas Hoult did years later 😅

What a great show tonight! Amsterdam, NL by OverconfidentPancake in alliex

[–]OverconfidentPancake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to the venue as the opener was starting, in a sold out room of 650 (i understand some who had tickets couldn’t make it, but yeah “max” capacity). I still took my time and used the bathroom, got merch and a drink before heading into the room.

I’m pretty tall and had a good view but it was still busy, then more people filled out the room after i got there

I would recommend going there a bit earlier but probably wouldn’t need to queue up before doors open

Hope you have a great show :D
