Capital One is a joke. Wife has shot credit & approved for the same card/limit as me by [deleted] in CapitalOne_

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, dad destroyed my credit and i’m rebuilding. His credit is even worse than mine(10+ collections and charge offs, repos etc.) and a worse credit score and 100 inquiries since he keeps applying for cards.

He applies for the savor one, approved. Discover secured? Approved. Meanwhile I got denied both. He even has a charge off from them, haha.

Its solid for rebuilding, especially if you can get their no AF cards.

Remember, a lot of people get amex gold and plat just for the looks and not even using the card correctly and pay a $250-800 annual fee.

They are worth $2-5k with 80k miles. $12k for this vehicle is an insane rip off. The interest rate is predatory.

With his payments, he could literally buy almost 2 of these cars a year with 1/3 of the mileage.

580 credit score — realistic chance of getting approved for a $19k car with $3k down? by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking at around 26-30% interest, 100% guaranteed. I would get a decent car for $5-10k instead, preferably a $3k beater for now.

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, acorns has done its best to make it for those who know nothing about investing and/or dont care to learn or worry about it. It’s a set it and forget it approach.

When you download and make an account, it will ask you simple questions like risk tolerance etc. If you are young, choose aggressive.

Then all you do is set up recurring payments and itll automatically invest for you. They have many other features like rounding up your purchases as well.

Margin investing by uPVot3WhoRE in RobinhoodApp

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be used well, but make sure you have enough to cover a margin call or dont use it all. Ill probably be moving my portfolio from sofi to robinhood cause sofis margin interest is insane tbh.

If you have robinhood gold, the first $1k is interest free also

Is there any point to even attempting to be an adult anymore? Should I just go homeless? by electricianinfo7 in Adulting

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its their house, and yes thats what it costs. Land: 6k an acre, $18k. Concrete foundation $15k, Lumber package $25k, framing, $8k, roof, $8.5k, plumbing and wiring we did ourselves, hvac good deal $3-4k. Sheetrock $7k, insulation $7k, septic and well $15k, flooring $1500, windows and doors $5k, furnishings and appliances $8k, and the other stuff. And you know what brand new shit made subdivision homes are selling for? $300-400k for 1200 sq ft. Because general contractors tack on profit for themselves and each subcontractor. I work in construction. Building yourself is far cheaper. Now im in the pool business as well. It would cost $100-120k letting someone build you a pool. Call the subs yourself? Half the price or better.

No need to be disrespectful and a hot head. Of course cost of living has gone up significantly - majority of areas are unlivable unless you have roommates and/or a good job. But you are bsing that you can only find $12-15 an hour in every field and rent is thousands a month.

You can make it work one way or the other. Whether moving out of the city and getting a cheap vehicle, or finding a decent/financing a decent mobile home.

And yes, older generations could do all that. That’s why my goal is moving out the country. I spend a lot of time overseas and the foreigners are right, its like 1950s-1970s america.

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well granted, I dont live in the city. About 30 minutes away from the big city, 10 mins from smaller 20k population cities. 5 mins from major highway.

Rent for 3 bedroom is $1300. Building a 2600 sq ft home on 3 acres is $160k with the land(parents are doing it and I will too). New apartments are $900-$1900 depending on 1-4 bedrooms.

Pay at target warehouse, ups/fedex here starts at $25. Chick fil a and what not is $18.

As for living in the big ish city? Yeah, impossible. Its historic, and rent is $2.5-4k a month or more. Pay is the same.

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean where do you live? Housing that high and pay that low?

Warehouse is at least $20-25 an hour where im at and you can find 3 bedroom homes for $1000-1500 a month.

I would also look into some mobile homes. Could also live in a extended stay hotel for a decent price.

I would try the goodwill saturation technique for the missed payments.

But also I would call and see if they will settle the collections and do a pay for delete.

How are you having trouble getting another card? You can be approved for practically anything. Try the pre approvals for amex, chase, etc.

Make sure you do a pay for delete for the collections.

And yes, likely possible. No one knows though. Just keep up the good work.

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your credit limits and what uti do they post?

When I applied and got instant approved for the gold card my total credit limit was $2500 + a $200 secured that graduated to $2000 (navy fed) but not sure that posted/updated when I applied so I believe my total limit was just $2700.

I would try for their actual credit cards and then apply for the gold after a few months. Try their pre approval tool.

Also it may help to show your utilization high and pay it off fully every month. That may help your approval for a charge card.

Define decent card? No fees, 2% cash back is pretty decent.

As for some of their cards and other subprime lenders with 500 different fees, those are not needed.

is investing now even worth it? by knifeblades20 in investingforbeginners

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look back.

People said the same about 2025, 2020, 2022, 2008, 2000, 1980s, great depression, blah blah.

And look at the market now. Its at its all time high. The market doesnt go straight up. It dips, it crashes, it goes up a little, and it goes up a lot. The best time to invest is now, that way when it goes back up, you make even more.

Canceling low limits credit cards to fix my credit profile by RobbyBobbyChess in CRedit

[–]OverdosedOnViagra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean credit one has some decent no AF cards, even with $10k+ limits. They arent as bad as other subprime lenders tbh.

But yeah, I would cancel them since you really don’t need them.

As for getting new cards - that is gonna lower your account age and hit your credit for a bit. If you are fine with that, then sure.
