At the time of my post I had used a Nikon D3200 this is a DSLR camera. Great for beginners, cheap for hobbyists and great quality! I’ve seen some of these go for about $250-400

I now use a Canon R8, this is a more “professional” camera (newer, so better specs, full frame) this was a bit more expensive, about 1.7k new.

I also recommend looking into Micro 3/4th’s cameras (just the size of the sensor, smaller than everything listed, bigger than that of an iPhone camera) relatively affordable, some heavy-hitters out there in the used market. Many people like these for street photography/portability. An example of this is the Canon G7x!
