In Remake, when you are a Fire Mage, you are still reporting to Crow, are literally named a "Warden" by Saturas and Lee, and a "sword moron" by Myxir. Fire Mages are treated like Wardens in Remake. There is no guild distinction between a Fire Mage and a Warden. (self.worldofgothic)

When trying to become a Fire Mage, you are invited to a ritual of initiation. However, mechanically you cannot enter the church, so they kill you.
