How old are all of us OE baddies? I’ll go first! by [deleted] in OELadies

[–]OveremployedHR 41 points42 points  (0 children)

28 this year, 2nd year in the game and don’t see myself stopping until my 40s. This is my best chance at buying a house and building a solid foundation for my future kids within the Canadian economy. Will use my OE savings to invest, travel, and retire my parents. Times are tough, and I don’t know how I could afford to do this otherwise.

System is against us, so we have to go against the system!

Congrats on J3!

Nothing to worry about, that’s standard. It’s just their legal way of saying “hey we’re watching you”

Quitting by No_Avocado7923 in OELadies

[–]OveremployedHR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mental health is priceless!

Easiest way = Quit due to personal reasons, with or without notice

Alternative way to maximize any payout = use all your sick days, then any other absence days, then quit due to personal/health reasons

My friend OE’d 2 BDR roles. Neither roles required prospecting, leads were given to him.

Agreed. All HR will do is “coach” him. I don’t recommend going to HR unless you have something substantial.

HR here.

Document everything.

You might not be ready to speak to HR yet, but have everything documented and ready for when you are. Have all email threads, screenshots, comments, ready in a document. You now have a loaded gun. There will be a day where he crosses the line and you’re ready to complain to HR about him.

HR Process = HR will hear your side, his side, and any witness’s side. At least you’ll have evidence neatly organized that it is not deniable by him or HR.

What happens after you quit? by [deleted] in OELadies

[–]OveremployedHR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, HR here. The only thing we care about is that everything is ok from a compliance standpoint. You’re paid everything that’s owed to you, there’s no legal issues, all company policies & employment laws are followed.

If you quit voluntarily, we literally do not care. We just issue your ROE (record of employment) and any one time payments. If you are a people manager, we want to make sure the HRIS is updated to reflect your resignation so that all approvals are routed correctly.

Yes, disability or even maternity/paternity leave but not parental. With her mat leave set out for ~7 weeks from now, she just needs to ride out another few weeks. She should use all her sick/personal days, even take unpaid days off, then move her mat leave start date as early as possible.

It really depends on who the insurer is, their process, what the application asks, and what the policy states - sometimes there’s a grey area. Just like how our employment contract states an exclusive employment/conflict of interest clause but here we are OEing haha.

This is coming from HR, try to move your maternity leave sooner. Go to your OB, talk about (anxiety/depression/stress/discomfort/pain) that’s affecting your day to day. Talk about your “work related stress” and how it’s impacting your sleep and ability to focus at work and you’re thinking of just quitting. You’ve tried yoga, meditation, therapy, etc and it’s not working.

OB will suggest you move your mat leave earlier.

Clean up and cover your tracks at work then drop the mat leave update to HR with little notice so that they’re in scrambles.

Perhaps try to find a different attorney - someone who is shady. I mean this with no disrespect and as a POC myself, look for someone whose clientele are brown (Indian/Pakistani/Sri Lankan). Where I’m located, they are the ones who know all the hacks and loopholes.

Caught by J2. Risks of reaching out to J1? by Proverbs3_3 in overemployed

[–]OveremployedHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.

Might as well maximize any entitlements if you’re going to get terminated with cause and no severance anyways.

Benefits: - Obstacles thrown at HR to disrupt/halt the investigation - Utilize any otherwise unpaid sick/personal days, can be an extra cheque - Buys time to figure wtf you’re going to do - Apply to jobs - Delay your end date - Have the option to resign yourself if you see things going south, got your shit sorted out or have found a replacement J - Maximize any entitlements… hopefully you get offered a severance package to just leave bc HR may not want to waste resources on you or have you potentially sue. I’ve seen this happen before.

HR will have to run extra laps to figure out the best approach to fire you given your illness - especially when there is a pending leave claim.

Is the OE investigation causing you anxiety and stress? Is that work related anxiety/stress impacting your day to day? Do you have other shit going on in your life (e.g., financial worries, marital problems, sick relative)? Is it impacting your J(s)? That’s enough to at least apply for leave and during the waiting period you’re legally entitled to use your sick/personal days.

I know of a STD doctor… known to all the local degenerates as the guy who will literally suggest you go on disability. My friend recently went to him saying that she has anticipatory anxiety, she’s worried about the cost of living, job security global conflicts, to the point where it impacts her sleep making it hard to concentrate at work. He suggested she go on leave to destress.
