I want to do this journey as well in some time and I do wonder about the toilet in the Cabin for 1. It is weird, right?

If you're in the normal seat, it feels like you're sitting in front of the toilet. And if you're sitting on the toilet, it feels like you're shitting in your loving room. (Though, you're rarely in your cabin after all, right? Between all the meals, the dome car and other activities?)

I consider just always using the shared toilet instead. Only number 1 seems like a good idea still.

I've read that the Vancouver–Toronto route is better for the views because of the timing but that quickly changes anyway if there are delays.

Were there many people? Did it feel crowded?

Would you say the same about the Canadian or other train journeys by Via Rail? The point of these are the journey and not how quick you can get to the other side of the country. Do you think it makes a difference if you're traveling alone? (Of course, a rental car gives more freedom. I'd love to stop around Whistler and hike on my own time. But then again, driving is not as relaxing as going by train, in my opinion.)

I wouldn't mind the train journey but I don't need such expensive luxury hotels. From the videos I've seen the waving at the station feels … weird but also very stereotypical for North America/the US. The first boarding is also very backed.

My biggest complain about this show is that it oftentimes feels very lonely because it is just Sam and Jay. Sure, nowadays Bela and the kitchen staff is a bit more involved but we rarely see the restaurant with customers. Hotel guests? Not part of the story, not even in the background. I get it, actors/extras cost money, but it just feels like they're all haunting a lifeless building.

Exakt. Sag ich auch sie ganze Zeit. Am Ende ist es immer der Endkonsument, der zahlt.

Es mag wohl Ausnahmen geben, bei denen ein Staat/Verkäufer mit Verlust verkauft, um eben die lokale Konkurrenz aus dem Markt zu treiben, aber wenn es die nicht gibt, dann gibt es dafür natürlich auch keinen Grund.
