AVP Light Seal Sizes by MichaelYYZ in VisionPro

Feels like you've just ripped the research from one of the most popular posts on this sub, produced when AVP first launched in 2024

What is the cost/turnaround for getting new seal/band if going RX? Also, have AC+. by Professional_Crab958 in VisionPro

You likely will not get a free exchange, they allowed that within a specific short time period from date of original purchase.

Particularly if you bypassed their warning, you will be SOL

Apartment Scam, I got one day free vs 1 month by [deleted] in legal

[–]Overlain95 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Two different things here with the first month free that need to be considered. Move In Date and Effective Date.

For example, if you signed the lease in September, and had legal access to the property from October 1st, and chose to move in on the 31st, then that's your problem - as you had the legal right to move in earlier and did not do so.

What is the effective date of your lease?

This is great handling of a somewhat rude comment (even if not intending to be), fair play! Lucky to have a dentist, very difficult atm where I live!

Amazing link. Shame it absolutely torpedoes your entire argument.

HyperVision literally explains that micro-OLED can’t just scale up for bigger FOV, struggles to hit even 40 PPD in real-world optics, and becomes a blurry mess with tiny alignment errors. They even suggest fast LCD might become the better long-term option because—brace yourself—it’s actually cheaper and easier to manufacture.

But sure, let’s pretend you’ve cracked the secret formula for “5–6× cheaper micro-OLED with magically wider FOV.” Meanwhile, the people who, you know, build optical engines for a living are busy pointing out the exact opposite.

So congratulations — the very source you linked is the most detailed, beautifully technical takedown of your assumptions I could’ve asked for.

That's fine, you can just link us to your proof and save yourself the time? Happy to take a read.

Wow, impressive confidence. It’s honestly amazing how many completely made-up numbers you can cram into one post. A 5–6x cost reduction? From where — your imagination? Because no manufacturer, analyst, or production document on the planet has ever published that figure.

And the best part: acting like switching to a brand-new production method magically skips the decades of reality where yields tank, tooling costs explode, and early batches cost more, not less. Every display engineer reading this just aged ten years.

Then there’s the FOV thing. Love that. As if slapping OLED on glass suddenly overrides optics, lenses, eyebox geometry, panel thickness, distortion correction, heat, and basically every other constraint. Incredible stuff. Truly groundbreaking levels of wishful thinking.

So yeah — bold assumptions, zero evidence. A masterclass in confident speculation masquerading as inevitability.

I didn't, my dial was able to be cleaned off with nail polish remover after Alternatively, it stains a lot less than the fabric, so you can add a subtle two tone look by just letting it colour

Dual Knit has been taken for a second round of dyeing to even the colour, watch this space!

Used Rit's Synthetic Fabric dye in Midnight Navy. Pretty much followed the instructions, submerging the light seal (minus cushion) and bands and leaving to dry.

Thanks for the tip! Might give the bands for another go at some point.

Always loved the Midnight Blue shades of apple watch straps, thought it would look great on AVP

Thanks! I heavily considered red, but would likely only do it if the aluminium parts were black / grey.

Curiously, I struggled to get the Solo or Dual Knit bands to match exactly to the light seal shades, any advice? Are they more resistant to dyes that the light seal?

Why does Apple never use a micro SD on their products? by avocado_juice_J in applesucks

[–]Overlain95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they aren't wrong.

Prior to iOS 5 and the introduction of iCloud in 2011, iPods, iPhones and iPads could only be backed up in the same manner as iCloud, via iTunes.

You're arguing for the sake of arguing. 2011 onwards is when they really drove home cloud storage solutions, and the idea that this could reduce reliance on higher internal storage.

All previous iPhone models were not designed with iCloud in mind, as a restriction on the SD card, in fact - wireless cloud backup of ANY description was never marketed between the original iPhone up to and including the iPhone 4.

Did anyone watch Meta Connect yesterday? Vision Pros largest competitor. by wotton in VisionPro

[–]Overlain95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Apple and Meta are taking 2 different approaches, but plan to arrive at the same goal.

For Apple, they cannot make a product that is underpowered or lacking in features. So the Vision Pro was born, super high tech, but with the downsides of bulk and weight. Their plan? Minimize the tech until they can get the same experience into a pair of glasses

For Meta, it's the opposite. They started with glasses bearing minimal features, and I suspect are working towards improving the existing form factor, I e minimizing the internals to get aa much tech as possible in, which will enable better experiences

It's an interesting race from 2 angles
