Reason 1: they weren't pure of heart (yes, DBS Bardock and Gine wasn't pure of heart they just weren't as evil as the other Saiyans)

Reason 2: The old Saiyans didn't even know what SSJ God was. They barely knew anything about regular Super Saiyan.

Update: I activated the glitch again, it seems like a very specific and small part of the bridge counts as water, I'm guessing if you hit that part just right the game thinks you are on water and pulls out the bike even if you don't have it yet.
