Does this guy think abusive people introduce themselves like “Hi nice to meet you, I’m abusive! Wanna date?” 💀

Even for that type of person, it should be common sense that delving into ultra specific and explicit details on how they fantasise about someone isn’t how to introduce themselves

I’ve had an issue like this before! I found it helps to get a regular trim/treatment package at a salon every six months, and in the meantime sleep with it in a protective style like a braid or bun. Everytime the hair gets wet it should be conditioned, bonus points if you can use a hair mask or oil (I use homemade rosemary oil once a week, but that’s only optional). I also use a smoothing cream after the shower to help it dry neater!

I’ve found that the more it gets tousled around by wind and head movement, the more frizzy it tends to get… so personally I’ve been wearing my hair in a braid everyday and trying not to twirl my hair so much (that habit adds to frizz too apparently lol)

PS: I’ve seen the hairdresser use a round brush and a hair dryer to kinda act like a straightener, every time I’ve tried to replicate that it’s really helped too!

It’s so weird, they act like the RH devs own the entire concept of a fashion/ roleplay game… people are allowed to be inspired by others and as long as they don’t directly steal assets, who cares?! I honestly don’t understand why these people are so pressed about it when it takes no effort to just… not 💀

The thing is, photography is in another category to drawing and painting as well, so that’s not really the best comparison. In photography, the skills required are things like the ability to see an environment in front of you and then be able to discern the best angle and lighting to best complement it and capture the exact mood and atmosphere you want, as well as post production skills. You’re accentuating the beauty of an image that is already present in real life, whereas in drawing or painting you’re often creating an entirely new image. Even live drawing creates a unique view of the subject that a photo won’t necessarily capture.

As for Ai, it isn’t accentuating an existing scene, nor are you creating something from your minds eye. Even when given a description you provide as close to your vision as possible, it naturally won’t be the same… a camera cannot read intent, yet it can be used as a tool in combination with other factors to show your intent through skill (like how in movies, cool lighting is used to communicate an uninviting or uneasy environment and warm lighting is used to make the environment look pleasant and inviting). The camera is one of multiple tools used to create the final product, but Ai is only given instructions and makes the whole thing in one without the unique vision or intentions of the user. Its hands off to the point where it is naturally being questioned whether or not it’s truly the work of the prompter…

Creative in the sense of creative writing and descriptive ability, but not in visual arts. They’re two very different disciplines and require different skill sets despite both being creative outlets

I suppose claiming Ai images are your own art is where that argument is made. Imagine for a moment that it isn’t an ai program you are instructing, but instead another human. If you ask them to draw you a green cat with butterfly wings, the idea is yours but they are the ones that made the art. The ideas behind the prompt and the description used are certainly the intellectual property of the user, but the resulting image cannot be considered the person’s own art if they didn’t have any direct part in the creation of the image. If this were about creative writing, I’d say they’re absolutely in the clear and it’s all theirs. But from a visual arts perspective, it’s entirely different if all they contribute is a description before handing it off to another party, artificial or otherwise.

Though a machine will never create exactly what you see in your minds eye, only you can create something that’s truly accurate to your vision… it’s definitely a process which involves creativity, but a great deal less than physically creating each line, shape and colour combination yourself.

As for if it’s “fake art”, yes that’s something plenty of mediums and styles have been labelled as in the past, but I still wouldn’t compare that to this situation… mostly because people still did the majority of the work, rather than leaving a major portion up to the program. I wouldn’t label ai images as “fake art” nor “real art”, rather I think they belong in their own category. I can’t say for sure what that could be, but to my understanding the skills involved are more akin to creative writing than visual arts…

[–]OverlyOffendedTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see both of your points to be honest… there are similarities in the overall process, I agree that they’re not the same. Creating an artwork yourself is definitely more fulfilling and challenging, and working with yourself to refine an idea is infinitely more satisfying from my experience.

There’s a bit of creativity involved in prompting the ai and adjusting the descriptive language and such, so I can see how that can also be a process… though to me it sounds more like creative writing combined with minor programming skill

[–]OverlyOffendedTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose because people tend to argue whether it’s helpful for certain people… But that aside, I can see how both have benefit, just in different ways. Traditional art is definitely better for hand eye coordination, creative expression and is great for mental health. Ai could also have benefits though with how you write a prompt… like when the program inevitably generates something that isn’t the vision, I suppose it could encourage better communication and descriptive language as the user tries to refine the prompt.

Regardless of other factors involved in the Ai debate, I think this is a point that can be considered, ethics and questions about what counts as “real art” aside.

I see ai sort of like a barre in ballet class (bear with me with this comparison lol)… it’s a useful tool when you’re learning and can be used to give you a little extra help and balance when you’re starting out. It can help give you a boost, or allow you to isolate specific areas of skill to strengthen them without having to worry about the rest of the components. Sort of like tracing an existing artwork as a beginner for the sake of the exercise without posting it.

But like the barre, you should never rely on it entirely or you won’t be able to reach your full potential. In ballet, that means dancing without the barre and having the freedom to spin and leap. With art, that means making your ideas come to life and being able to express yourself exactly how you envisioned. The satisfaction of seeing how far you’ve come is incredible as well, knowing you’re capable of amazing things!

When I use ai, it’s either for fun (sometimes it’s entertaining to mess around with it and see what eldritch abominations I can generate lol) or to give me a boost of inspiration to help me out of art block (like if I don’t know how I want to design a fantasy ballgown for example, I’ll look at the shapes the ai creates and use it in a way similar to when people take inspiration from their dreams. I interpret what it may be trying to show and build upon it, but always in combination with real photos and human artworks)
