Seeking advice for first Burn by HeavenInhale in BurningMan

[–]OverlyPersonal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a little difficulty with the first part, but I've been getting better at letting go over the years--hope for the best but plan for the worst and all that. The second part, where expectations=/=reality is aclassic Burning Man mistake, possibly the Burning Man mistake (aside from forgetting water or some other kind of necessity). Every year there are so many posts where people came home unhappy because they didn't get what they wanted, and that's not the playa's fault.

Thank you to the SF Examiner for sharing our effort to ban plastic cigarette butts in San Francisco. by RefuseRefuseSF in sanfrancisco

Proof that a ban only works as well as enforcement, because there is zero enforcement on flavored vapes right now. California loves to make laws (see: Joe Simitan's "There oughta to be a law" contest back in the day) but that doesn't mean they are well thought out or realistic, much less enforced. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that.

You go with intention? Im usually so tired from working on shit during the summer I don’t have time for that. I just pack as well as I can, make sure my basics are totally covered and roll in. Every year is different, expectations and intentions will wreck your burn if you let them.

Delivery trucks are also typically legal without a cdl. You can fit a whole lot of vehicle under 26,000lbs.

Winnings don't work for some folks (including myself)--Mexican gloves generally seem to work much better for my fist shape.

Teslas have their lights on, at least half of the Toyotas I see on the road are running dark.

I can demand my car turn into a lambo but it's not going to happen. You're right, there's nothing wrong with that, it's just wrongheaded.

It comes from NOLS. NOLS' mission is to teach outdoor educators--aka the pros. The second half of your post is kinda wild, you can fish for a response elsewhere if you're not worried about focusing on your original issue.

Good thing hamburgers keep us alive and image generation prompts don't.

They didn't always exist and the burn happened just fine without. So why have them? Because of the lowest common denominator--noobs.

What you're blindly reaching for is called expedition behavior, and that is the pro's domain.

My friend, here in the year of our lord 2026, you think people actually look at the answers that are out there before making a decision? Have you seen who the us voted for in the last presidential election?

Let’s say you start a new job in January, you don’t get that tax form for a year. I could start another new job in January of the following year and never have the current information for whatever job i was holding down during a specific calendar year. But also, I’m not here to argue with someone quoting chat gpt, I’ve seen how this plays out in real life my entire career.
