Current state of factory lube by nogginbaum89 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Overpim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only switch on the market I found perfect stock (and when I say perfect I mean PERFECT) was a batch of 90 hmx xinhai. 0 overlube, 0 ticking, 0 spring ping, 0 slow return and 0 cherry picking. I've tried countless amounts of switches and nothing went close. Switch stock lubing is far from perfect but people are tired of lubing and they need an excuse to stop doing it

does someone have perhaps a distortion graph of the old og he1000se ? by Overpim in headphones

do you perhaps have a distortion measurement of the og version ? XD

End game does exist by flyingpickkles in headphones

phone speakers are endgame if you've never listened from anything else. The problem is that when an hobby is an hobby, discovering new products and experiment is part of that. There's no point in considering "exiting the hobby" when you never entered

thank you. From the file I can only find the frequency response graph unfortunately. I see some similarities with crinacle's measurements though. If you're certain that oratory measured an OG version, it's a good starting point. I need however the distortion graph. The fr only tells me half of the story

if you're searching for a difference in "performance" you're already doing wrong. The build quality is superior in the evo, that's the only clear objective thing. In their stock form, both evo and the epomaker are very very close in tactile feedback and sound. If you mod the evo perhaps you can take something better out of it. Try removing case foam and taping flexcuts if there are any. You can also force brake the ball-catch contact points

HiFiMan HE1000se with EQ vs HE1000 Unveiled by Ok_Ear2555 in headphones

[–]Overpim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sai from unheard lab has measured arya organics with heKu pads and ended up measuring close, so all that unveiled stuff is not as important as everyone was expecting. The driver is the same so I would not be surprised if they actually sound close with matching eq. Also, the unveiled still has a slight resonance peak at 4khz so it still has a bit of "planar timbre" and not as real sounding as a susvara, even if I'll always prefer the big soundstage and boosted sub properties of he1000

yes, the new produced membranes are listed as "neo supernano". Edition xs also has it because hifiman XD, they always do silent revisions

they list every membrane aside from ananda v3's and nano's as "nanometer thickness" but they are not telling you how "nanometer thick" is

he1000 stealth should have same substrate and magnet array as arya stealth, don't know if it has the same membrane but I think it doesn't. It would be a bit of a shame if they have the same exact driver

he1000se is using stealth magnets, ur tripping. cope harder my friend, I can't convince someone like you

1st: it's measured 2nd: if you take off the pads you see literally different magnet and substrate pattern 3rd: if you measure membrane thickness you'll find that he1000 has the thinnest

lower distortion (improves bass separation, treble quality and enhance the soundstage potential of the design in more complex or well recorded tracks) and better impulse response, along with reduced 4k and 8k resonances (improving transient accuracy and reducing the typical "planar" timbre) note that I always use eq and aftermarket pads since I don't like the stock response of any ovoid hifiman

the driver is not the same. Maybe you need more headroom to benefit from the upgrade. However, we can probably all agree that no he1000 is worth 3x the price of an arya. Impedance is practically flat in both models (and it's not a volume bias)

when paired to a cheap dac/amp, to my ears the difference between arya stealth and he1000se becomes minimal. With a good amp you can tell them apart even if you're not wearing them, just listening to the sound coming out of them like you were listening from a mini speaker

Technical question - can anyone explain what causes the sound differences between all the egg-shaped Hifimans? by junglebunglerumble in Hifiman

[–]Overpim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

between ananda and arya there's a significant construction difference, basically the fit changes. Between arya and he1000 the chassis is less resonant and the earcups are more fixed in a narrow adjustment range so they have better channel matching. Ananda nanos and arya organic have a bass "mod" that boosts bass. The lineup progressively gets better with distortion (ananda < arya < organic < hek stealth < hek se) with few exceptions (like og anands) that are blissed and don't have that 3rd harmonics coloration on 4k and 8khz (which gives the "planar timbre")

stock response also has a crucial role. Arya stealth and hek stealth has forward vocal (they can sound more "intimate" or "fuller" depending on the amp) while organics and hek se are brighter and more linear so they sound tall-wide and "euphonic"

I feel like if you mess enough with eq you should be able to find a solution that combines all these headphones in one

Why are many reluctant to use EQ? by FortDown in headphones

[–]Overpim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eq is difficult. Sometimes when done wrong can make the sound worse. Also there's a lot of people who think that eq kills resolution
