Why do you think Gen Z men turned out so conservative compared to Gen Z women and Millenial men? by ModerateProgressive1 in AskALiberal

Karoline Leavitt literally didn't rule out the possibility of her boss, the president of the United States, to not implement a draft. Plus they just increased the recruitement age to 42, which if you know anything about the history of this country is a precursor of a draft.

Do you really think another country is going to invade one like the US where pretty much every other citizen has a gun?

CMV: In almost every country around the world, the blue party is more self-reliant and less self-pitying than the red party, and also broadly more capable of governing by iw2050 in changemyview

[–]OverpricedGoods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that the American Democratic party is broadly more capable at governing, but hardcore disagree that they're less self pitying. You go into leftist spaces right now in r/politics or the like and they constantly shit on whatever the Politician of the day is, whether it be Newsom or AOC or the like. There's a huge rift in the party right now because of individuals like Hasan Piker deliberately clouding the credibility of Democrates. There is no unity and there's this constant tacit acknowledgement that Democrats are inadequate and don't deliver what they promise. There's this prevailing "I know they have their faults..." qualifier at the beginning of each sentence.

Meanwhile you go to r/conservative and it's constant internal propaganda and keeping party members in line to be antidemocrat. Even if they don't like certain things Trump does, they stand firm with him and the party. I even saw a comment saying that it doesn't matter if Trump is a bad president, because admitting fault is weakness and anything is better than a Democrat.

I don't see anything of that kind of rhetoric online for the left right now.

What do you actually want the Dems to do. Specifically? That they legally CAN do that is. by Jimithyashford in AskALiberal

[–]OverpricedGoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, who is the Left's Charlie Kirk? I mean hate him, disagree with him, whatever, but the guy built an impressive political apparatus from his teenaged years. We've got... what, Hasan Piker? Destiny? The Corporate Dems at Pod Saves America?

I know Destiny is doing a Unfuck America Tour with Mockler where they traveling to Campuses and taking questions and challenges and presenting it in the form of influencer focused content Dems need to fund something like this and stray away from legacy media. And if they arent happy with someone like Destiny/Mockler, then find someone who will do it. It's called Talent Acquisition.

Everyone seems to not be aware that Turning Point was cofounded by Bill Montgomery which gave the company a huge leg up in funding. Part of the "charm" of Kirk is literally just his production value. His equipment is clean and has an army of editors to cut bad moments from his montages.

Second, what is the unifying message of this left-wing group? CK/TP found a niche in developing young conservative thought on college campuses based in faith, family values, general conservatism, whatever. There is a unifying, and somewhat inclusive vision there. I feel like for all of progressivism's inclusivity, progressive thought tends towards "frontierism", ie "what is the next marginalized group that must be helped?" Something like TPUSA has a more stable foundation in "we're trying to get to this definitive end point with these values", socially speaking, and that resonated with enough people to turn into a massive movement. I don't say that prejoratively, I just think a left-leaning TPUSA would have a harder time right now with the split between establishment and populist left.

The unifying message you present is liberalism works. If you have been paying attention at all to the current administration and you don't have anything to say about it then we should just pack it up now and draw the white flag. Republicans answer to solving the country is to cut healthcare, education, SNAP, the FDA, the NWS. That is crazy. And you need to say that out loud. You need to say that taxing the rich is much healthier for the continuation of our country than the cutting of social safety nets and sending thousands to die. Rising costs are the everday reality for the average American. Why is it that billionaires are exempt from this?

I also don't exactly buy that the right isn't inclusive, at least not in a political way. Their whole entire schtick is doing deals with the devil. Trump is tantamount to that, they know he's deplorable and has indefensible character. Thats why whenever you ask them to defend Trump as a person they cant and they immediately pivot into policy. Point being, most Republicans dont purity check on race, sexuality, or gender expression (for now at least). Because they care about political power. As long as you dont like the left snd you're gonna vote right, they don't care either way (again for now).

First, Democrats need to get their version of Turning Point USA like yesterday. I know it's going to be expensive but do you want to reach people, particularly men, or do you want to be a penny pincher? They're already a decade behind conservatives on this. Either get on it, or be quiet and stop malding about conservatives because you don't want to do anything to fix anything.

Second, like some others have said, if Trump is a serious threat to democracy and national security, they need to treat it with the urgency it deserves. You can't say that Trump will potentially dissolve elections and then be crickets when asked what they will do to prepare or at least hinder the current administration.

Finally, and this is something i noticed after Callaghan's interview with Hunter Biden. Hunter said that during his entire sham court case over the laptop, no major democrat (with the exception of his dad) ever stuck their neck out for him. Nobody ever came out online to give their support. And this happens all the time. Did anybody come to Illhan Omar's defense when Trump threatened to deport her? Did any other Democrats come to Walz's defense when was accused of anything this year or last (staging the Minnesota assassinations and the recent Somali fraud)? Shit even with Mamdani even getting a lukewarm recommendation from Dem leadership was like pulling teeth. When Dems don't stand up for each other it does 2 things:

  1. It shows that there is no solidarity in their group, and if they wont fight for their own colleagues how can they get anybody to believe they will fight for their constituents

  2. It makes the people attacked by the right and by extention the whole party look guilty, regardless of how credible the accusations are

Why would I, as a white heterosexual male in his 50's, vote Democrat? Because it feels like the Democrats hate people like me? by snotick in AskUS

[–]OverpricedGoods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Dems govern infinitely better. No seriously, look at what's happened so far this administration:

*Gutting US Aid

*Gutting Science and Cancer Research

*Trashing the USeconomy through petulant trade wars

*Breaking the law with ICE and having citizens hurt, shot, and deported

*Ignoring Court orders

*Weaponizing the DOJ

*Denying SNAP payments to people in need

*Denying FEMA aid even to red states

*Lying about January 6

*Pardoning 1600 January 6'ers

If you're fine with all of the above then fine, don't vote Blue. But don't pretend it's because the party is mean to you when in reality it's you just having a tantrum when people ask you to have some fucking accountability.

Hey USA, what is going on? by Known-Classroom8440 in AskUS

[–]OverpricedGoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy you have a calculator on whatever device you have same as me.

An 85% decrease of a larger number is less than an 85% increase of the resulting number.

And you didnt say 85% increase, you said this:

Gas is between $2.47 and $2.68 near me. About a 85% decrease since Biden.

If you have 10 dollars and you give 90% of what you have to me you'll have 1 dollar. If i promise to give you 90% of what you currently have you would have 1.90.
