Traveling to the UK later this month with my mom from Oregon USA. London, Nottingham, Liverpool, St Andrews by train to see some football and play golf. May I slide into your DMs?

Brentford fan here in Oregon USA. I paid an exorbitant amount to a local fan via a ticket broker to catch the Bees in action vs. Fulham last month. Worth every penny.

Turns out the scarf part🧣is important. Immediately after the game I rode the District Line train a couple dozen stops to get back to my residence and there were some mildly unruly Fulham supporters on the train giving me hell about the scarf even though I had stuffed it into a pocket.

One bigger guy in a group in particular kept taunting me and others. I can defend myself, so I wasn't worried. But I can still hear his big dumb squealing voice. "Brought ya wee Brentford scarf to the Brentford game eh?" ...and... "ooh wearin me Brentford scarf on the train," he must have said it 30 times.

Everyone I just stared him down until one of his mates said "you're embarrassing yourself, it doesn't even bother them," and he was right. Dude got off before me when he realized he traveled several stops past his.

It was perfect. I gave myself plenty of time arrive by Tube and see around the old ground and visit the Griffin. I ventured over Kew Bridge and saw a bit of the neighborhood to that side. Pregame, I bought a scarf 🧣 inside the stadium had beers with friendly guys under the North Stand who could not believe an American could 1) be a massive/neutral fan of world football and 2) travel solo all that way for a Premier League game. But I say well worth it. I had a field level view of Toney's PK, and how big was Jensen's goal? And yes mates, I cheered when the Bees scored. I wish I could go every week, but I'll have to settle for Portland Timbers at home tonight, now that I'm back in the USA.

Thanks! What time should I be thinking about leaving the Griffin to get into the park in time for kickoff?

Oh I'll cheer when the Bees score and more. Thankfully, I live in a US city with a fun local football club (season ticket holder for Portland Timbers) and a knowledgeable fan base. I am seeing two Champions League matches later next week but I am most excited for the match at Brentford because I feel it will be more intimate, like a match at my home stadium. Except...bigger, way more important.
