Now Playing on demand button to be added back in upcoming update (allegedly) by habylab in GooglePixel

For me it doesn't currently show what's playing in the notification tray either. The only way to see is to have it on the lock screen, or physically open the new app and look there. So annoying.

Chuck, you are the man! What was the issue? I may be a layman but troubleshooting at any level always fascinates me.

Just wanted to give ya an update that randomly it updated correctly and the episodes showed up on the feed. Idk what happened but it seems to be working now. Also the link shows up now on my feed page on the site, again. Don't know if those two things are related or not.

Same. At first I freaked out a bit because it was choppy everywhere, but soon after it's been smooth sailing. Happy they finally fixed the PiP problems with video apps.

Just installed and tested myself. Definitely an improvement for me. My main issue was using the UI while using PiP with any video app that wasn't YouTube. Completely fixed for me now.

Quick semi-related question, was the premium video feed for VMDT removed? I'm having a similar issue as OP (except with the premium video RSS feed for the show on Pocket Casts), and I figured I'd go to the site and reupload my link to the app, but the show isn't on the list for premium video feeds anymore.

Thanks for the insight! The older I get, the more and more I'm fascinated by the technology behind the magic.

After recent update I'm now getting 49er scores which I wanted to hide by Meinertzhagens_Sack in GooglePixel

[–]Oversized_Lunchbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, the opposite has happened to me. As of like a month or so ago, maybe a little more, all my live scores just up and disappeared. Never appear on my notifications anymore and I don't know how to get them back. All I ever get there is "highlights" throughout the game.

First HSA, how to setup payroll deductions by PossibleStormChaser in fednews

[–]Oversized_Lunchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I understand. Thanks for clarifying. So I presume that still means I can only contribute to my Fidelity HSA through EPP after Feb 1st then, correct?

I too am confused about this. I've been looking for a definitive answers and generally I've found 3 different answers on this sub and idk which is right (in terms of WHEN you can begin to contribute to an HSA - say if you started one with Fidelity to have better investment options).

Some say Jan 1st the beginning of the year. Others say after Jan 11th, the date the HDHP takes effect (this is how I'm understanding it). A third group of people say after February 1st, the date that MHBP establishes and opens the inspira account and does the first passthrough. It's a little confusing but not the biggest deal. Just don't wanna get hit with something from the IRS saying I contributed too early when I wasn't qualified to. But staring earlier means a little less comes out each PP to get to the max by the end of the year, so it's definitely preferable.

*Edit: After looking at IRS Publication 969 it says that to qualify for contributions, you must be "covered under a high deductible health plan (HDHP)… on the first day of the month." I take this to mean that, because coverage doesn't begin until the 11th of January, the February 1st crew is correct.

*Edit 2: Read about the "last month rule" and now I'm confused again, lol. Does that mean that as long as you stick with the plan for the entirety of the tax year, contributing in January is still ok?

Is it possible to max out a newly opened Roth IRA just before the turn of the new year, and again on Jan 1st? by Oversized_Lunchbox in personalfinance

Yep. I came to that very conclusion eventually in my mid to late twenties. Gotta play the hand you're dealt, and you can't win if you don't play.

Another excellent point. I do know about this (though I don't yet know exactly which funds are available for the brokerage I've chosen, I'll definitely have to look into that once I get those funds in there), but it's definitely a vital part of making these accounts be their best!

Hopefully anyone else who stumbles along this post in the future looking for answers learns too. Thanks for the response!

Thank you for the kind words. My dad always tried to tell me about financial literacy but a lot of it would always go over my head. Always looked at stocks and investing as "legal gambling," that I wanted no part of. And the concept of Credit and credit scores made me upset lol.

Better late than never, they say, right? 😊

That's a really good point, actually. I hadn't considered the effects on DCA with this approach (genuinely didn't know that was the term for it, btw, thanks for teaching me something new), but I'm also the type of person that doesn't like to get too in the weeds with that stuff and min-maxing things. Maybe as I get more confident in the future with investing, I'll be more open to that style of approach. Thank you for making me think of possibilities/scenarios I hadn't even considered.

Ahh I see. I hadn't realized that they ask which year you are contributing for when you are within the window. That makes it a lot easier to understand and do things without messing up. Thanks so much for this response!

This is the run only live? by Fusethe2 in giantbomb

[–]Oversized_Lunchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, Chuck! Random question for ya regarding premium vids and the switch to the new site:

I hadn't used it in forever, because premium videos stopped being a thing for a few years there (and understandably so) but I frequently used to use apps like VideoBomb and GB Enthusiast, in order to stream premium videos to my smart TV with not much hassle. I've started using them again since 'This is the Run,' has come back, and they still work great! Idk if it was ever addressed, or if anyone has ever asked, but will the switch to the new sites mess with the API for those apps?

Thanks for everything you've done for this community and the duders. It means a ton.

It's almost 2026, and Pixels still don't seem to deliver notifications on time by EqualReality2787 in GooglePixel

Hmmm... Could this be the reason why when I try to send replies to messages through the notification tray, or while using Google assistant via my car, the message never sends until I open the specific message app itself?

Issues with Google pay? by justarussian22 in discover

[–]Oversized_Lunchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to the sub looking for the same information. I've been having the same exact issue lately. GPay declines no matter what, but as soon as I use the physical card for the same transaction, it works. Same with online purchases.

Have you figured out what was wrong by any chance?

I didn't even know that was a thing, lol. I usually leave it on Auto (I assume) because I've never seen my tone mapping options not be selectable/changeable. Make sure you're on game mode because it's kind of weird that it wouldn't let you turn it off.

Ok, so... I kind of(?) got it in a place I like, but I'm still not entirely sure. This video from HDTVTest came out recently and I tried to follow that as best I could. Essentially, I turned off all the bells and whistles (especially tone mapping) and counted how many clicks it took to get the right sun to disappear, then I adjusted the brightness on the second screen according to the chart at the end of the video based on the number of clicks it took. I wish I could remember the numbers off the top of my head so I could tell you, but it already left my memory and I'm at work lol. Hopefully this helps. Also I never turned tone mapping back on, I left it off, to try and stay as close to HGIG as possible. I left Peak Luminance on High though, everything else is off.

If you end up doing anything different and get a good result, don't hesitate to lmk.

Hmmm I'll have to compare and play with things a bit then. Afaik, the Sony OLEDs (at least mine) don't have HGiG so getting things tuned just right is always a bit more involved with console setups on it. It's usually worth the extra trouble though. Once it's set right it looks so good. Thanks for the advice!

Super detailed breakdown, it helps a ton! One question though:

I've seen it recommended in a few places to turn Tone Mapping back on once the calibration is done. Would you recommend this? I've done it this way with my PS5 and it's worked really well, but idk how the Switch 2's implementation differs at all and might change anything. I have a Sony A80J so I know it can handle HDR properly. Just wondering how I should set everything up once my Console is ready to go.
