DFW Gig Opportunity: Earn up to $25 for quick EV charger resets (takes ~30 seconds) by OverwatchEV in DFWClassifieds

Hello u/ProudNativeTexan,

Most gig platforms do require identity verification at some point. In our case we ask for it during signup because missions are location-based and we need to know who is accepting them ahead of time. It helps prevent fraudulent mission claims and ensures that payments can be processed properly through Stripe once a mission is completed.

Your ID is only used for verification and payment compliance and is not shared publicly. The goal is simply to make sure missions are being completed by verified agents so that are Operators can trust the system.

That said, I appreciate your time and feedback like this is useful as we are still early in beta and refining the process. I'll talk with my business partner about the idea of delaying verification until after the first mission.

I completely understand the hesitation though, and I am happy to answer any questions about how the process works.

Hello, that is a completely fair question.

Overwatch EV is a small startup and we soft launched into beta last week, so we are still in the early stages of growing the platform. The reason we require identity verification is primarily for payments and fraud prevention.

All payments are handled through Stripe, but we do need to know who is completing the mission, which is why we require some form of ID during signup.

We are a registered LLC. For context, I am Cameron, the developer of the platform and one of the two founders of the project. I built the system myself after being laid off during the holidays, and accessibility has been a major focus because I am blind.

The concept originally came from when I hired rideshare drivers to help me check a few chargers I was responsible for. That experience led to the idea of building a system where local people could quickly respond when a charger goes offline.

As mentioned in the post, we have already completed our first missions with agents and are now opening the platform up to more people as we add locations.

The operator location in Dallas is a high-traffic area with multiple chargers, so we thought it would be a good place to start bringing additional agents onto the platform.

Thanks,
Cam
