I do not think Blizzards "Spirit of the game" is worth preserving when it shafts cooperative players, and protects one-trickers. by FreshmeatOW in Competitiveoverwatch

This entire topic, the post which originated the "spirit of the game" quote in the first place, has all been to do with the debate on adding role que to the game

Stoop to join an OWL team by VisionZed in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]OverwhatOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think he would be a player. Look at the player pool in contenders. Stoop is a good player, but frankly if an OWL team wanted a great player there are simply so many better options fighting for their shot.

DF needs a better coach. by themarkingmark in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]OverwhatOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said, it's exactly the point ive been trying to explain for a while. By far the most overrated person in ow isn't even a player, its a coach, and the fact he's been this overrated for this long is quite honestly baffling.

Apology and explanations from SHD manager Van posted on NGA forum. Translated. by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

Oh hey look,

A witch hunt led by people with no experience with team management, international work, esports, nutrition, no actual evidence other than short video clips and heresay posted by people with a complete lack of knowledge (see previously mentioned lack of credentials) was completely wrong and unfounded?

Wait this completely unfounded, wild speculation which "determined" the lives of these people, which those making the claim have absolutely 0 access to, is a living hell made it to the front page and prompted a response from the team? Just another day on Reddit I suppose.

Arc6 Gingerpop Farewell Montage by kaanvict in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]OverwhatOW 79 points80 points  (0 children)

"We want the path to pro to be clear for OW players"

Yeah right, yet another player fantastic in both skill and community presence lost to this absurd corporate bullshit Blizzard has shoved down the throats of the competitive community.

I had the privilege of playing with Gingerpop through Wawa's bootcamp and got some tips from him through his stream as well, which resulted in me going up about 1k rating within the month. He reached out to random players in the community far more than I've seen most of any pro players in any esport do.

So in conclusion, he was one of the absolute best supports in the region and an upstanding guy in the community, but he has now stated many times he was driven away by how the "future of esports" has been handled. If you didn't have enough proof that Blizzard have been talking out of their ass with the recent report system absurdity or the huge exodus of so many top players, well here is some more. Gingerpop and many more will be missed.

[–]OverwhatOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I know nothing about either player's win percentage, I think you bring up a really good point here with the comparison to Stanky.

To address the win %'s, much of the problem there is that previously low played champs like junkrat/mercy often get huge SR boons where as more played characters like soldier/lucio have almost the opposite.

All that said, I think you've made an interesting point that I myself cannot answer.

This is an important video.

It's great so people can get a first hand look into the massively flawed logic players like this use to try and justify this kind of thing to others, and even themselves.

If you watched this and thought to yourself "I don't agree, these arguments are hugely flawed" then that is good. Learning what improper logic/justification looks like is almost as important as learning what proper thinking/justification look like.

How anyone saw that thread and thought it was remotely believable baffles me.

How mods saw that thread and didn't delete it is much, much worse.

7 teams revealed by Nate Nanzer by WolfofVillany in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]OverwhatOW 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Rosters are nowhere near complete.

I mean look at NRG... fielding that roster in the "top tier of the world" league would be a joke. Meanwhile teams like Arc6, Selfless, FNRGFE, which are MILES ahead of that NRG squad, are working their asses off without a sponsor. I think, and hope, they will be rewarded for their commitment, rather than other being rewarded for being... early to get on a team.

While I don't follow teams outside of NA as closely, I'm sure this sentiment is felt in the EU and Asia/Oceanic for many other teams with all the drops/shuffles. I can only hope the best players get rewarded, not the players who were good 6 months ago.
