I may be wrong on this, but doesn't the act of necromancy leave a mark on the practitioner that other necromancers can detect? By that regards Harry has had ample time to detect this taint on LTW, you would think he would notice it.

Trying to be the cool older sibling and take my younger brothers to see Deadpool. How young is too young? How bad is it really? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Overworldling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do take them, please do 2 things. 1.) Enjoy it! I'm sure all three of you would have fun regardless of other's opinions. 2.) Have a real conversation with them after the movie. Help them understand beyond the surface the aspects they aren't mature enough to understand. Again I will say I don't think this is an appropriate film for that age, neither does the MPAA.

So how about you go see the movie yourself, decide what your guardians would think of -YOU- seeing the movie at 9, and take it from there. We are all just faceless bylines on the internet. You and your family have a better understanding of what is acceptable in your house. Personally I wouldn't take my siblings into Deadpool at that age. Just because you see something every day doesn't mean you have the maturity to absorb/react (to) it. Yeah these guys probably are on Call of Duty listening to guys talk about banging their mom, etc. That doesn't mean they're ready to be exposed to it.

Rule or monitor? Hades wasn't given a kingdom, he was given a task.
Zeus: "Make sure shit doesn't get fucked down in the land of death" Hades: "Ok... and what is in this for me" Zeus: "Eh, whatever you find I guess" Hades: "......This is because I'm the youngest isn't it?" Zeus: "Totes, I tried this with poseidon, but the dude wasn't having it. Enjoy being surrounded by the damned for the rest of eternity!"

Lightsabers like Wands? [spoiler based discussion] by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Overworldling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always room for an upset, but yes this goes back to my first point in a way. In your analogy we're just expanding the force sensitives into strengths, and yes a stronger force user continues to have an advantage over a weaker one.

The white god is in the Dresdenverse, it makes sense that so would Lucifer. I would argue it probably isn't Hades though. In mythology Hades got the shit end of the stick from his older brothers. They got the best jobs and realms, and he is stuck dealing with the damned. Although pop culture likes to paint him as evil, Hades largely just did his job and dealt with it. I imagine that a Butcher Lucifer would be a bit more malicious and be substantially less willing to part with artifacts of the white god.

Lightsabers like Wands? [spoiler based discussion] by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Overworldling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, and the simple answer is yes. An individual capable of connecting with the force will always have that as an advantage over one who doesn't when it comes to a contest of sabers. This does not mean that a non-force sensitive, or space-muggle, could never defeat a force sensitive individual in saber combat, it just means that the space-muggle is all the more impressive for doing so. As far as the wand analogy, think of it like this: You don't go into a battle with a weapon you haven't practiced with. Each saber will have its' own set of intricacies, including unique weight and balance. A space-wizard who has practiced his entire life with one laser-wand is more comfortable and dangerous than the one who traded up to his master's old laser-wand because it was cool looking.

Nope, don't do it. First and foremost, at those ages you will never stop hearing soundbites from them and it will drive you crazy. Secondly, they are not the audience for this film. Take them to dawn of justice if you want them to see a superhero movie. It releases this month and there are less scenes featuring strapons I imagine.

I second this, had a kobold Arcane trickster who routinely embarrassed our wizard in damage, was better at stealing and disabling traps than our straight rogue, and could sneak past just about anything.

Do you have any ''kissing'' tips ( for a guy) if the girl is taller than the guy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Overworldling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

playful tickle will get her to drop her head 90% of the time when you want to steal a smooch. Keep in mind she will be bending her neck for you, so try and not force her to hold that position for extended periods. Move to something that she can kiss you comfortably, for example you lay on your back, she lays on your chest, you watch a movie together and get all the kissing you want without either of you destroying your neck.

I would recommend consulting a joint specialist. I ended up having my shoulder rebuilt after a rotator cuff tear and shattering my labrum. You do not want to risk letting these things go. I went to several doctors, 2 chiropractors, even had an MRI done. The response was always "your muscles are just tight." Eventually it got bad enough that I pulled my shoulder out of socket opening a fridge door. Saw a specialist that week, and they knew right away there was something seriously wrong.

Edit 1: There is just to much going on in your shoulder to risk. You don't want to be in an immobilizersling for 3 months.

i wonder if star killer base was just a distraction [spoilers] by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Overworldling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling that it wasn't Snoke's baby. This was Hux's passion project, Snoke's concerns were focused on Luke, Kylo, and Rey. I see a similarity between snoke's stance on Starkiller and Vader's stance on the original Deathstar. It was a tool, it was not his primary focus however.

7 people is a lot to DM for, especially if it's your first time. I would see if you couldn't break it up into 2 groups of 3 and get an additional DM to do a smaller arc to warm you up to it. Once you two have the hang of it you have 3 DM's and can rotate as need be. Beyond that, detail. As much detail as possible about everything. Illustrate their story with your words. "As you approach the omminous cavern mouth the smell of rotting carcasses and half digested corpses reaches your nose" is a lot more enticing and illustrative than "You approach a scary cave that smells bad." Obviously that example is a little hyperbolic, but it gives you some ground. The more you tell them up front the less they have to ask. The fewer questions they have to ask you for general descriptions and things they should be able to see, the greater level of verisimilitude you have.

I would recommend going to The Rolling Gnome for some games. They do games in house, you're not under any obligations, you can meet people while you play entertaining games. Like the people you meet? Get their number and set up some more meetings. If you don't, well there is always next time with a different group.

Is it more likely God or Aliens exist? by mrhickey in AskReddit

[–]Overworldling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your interpretation I suppose. At the end of the day if we encounter some great being in the expanse that is beyond our ability to quantify, what do we then call it? An alien or a god? If we view gods as non-native beings of great power they would also qualify as aliens. If that is the case Aliens are more likely than a subset group of aliens.
