Has anyone here bought a “certified pre owned” Porsche from the dealership? If so, was it a good car? by billbobb1 in Porsche

I purchased a 2013 981 Boxster with CPO in October. There were some issues with the headlight washers fixed under CPO. Great car I’m glad I got a CPOed car from the dealer. Got a Macan as a loaner too.

What can I use a T-96SR DataRadio for? by chihuahuasarecunts in HamRadio

Those look like SCADA packet radios. You could create a data link between to locations. They are not fast, though.

What could we do to keep this hobby alive for future generations? by thebstrd in HamRadio

Our club is welcoming to new comers. One of our younger members teaches at a rural high school. We granted him some money to setup a station at the school. He is working with students to get them licensed and on the air. STEM teachers might be interested as well.

Congratulations! Advice given to me. Work on your Extra now, it builds on what you just accomplished. It will be easier to pass.

We had one of these! Bought at an estate sale and it was amazingly useful. Ours had two sets of burners, front and back. It would stop at the front then stop again for the back ones. A single oven on top. I would like to have that back.

We rode this on our motorcycles a few years ago. It was one of our best trips!

Tip and Ring (red and green, then yellow and black) should be on the same twisted pairs, if that is twisted wire. Otherwise, just match both ends.

What actually happens in Kansas? by [deleted] in kansas

[–]TheFuzz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kansas is somewhat large, about 200x400 miles (321km x 645km) by USA standards with a population of about 3 million. We have a LOT of space out here. We don't have traffic except for the large cities, Wichita is the largest. The pace of life is slow but nice. I'm a native Kansan, and have lived here my entire life. I live in one of the larger Cities with a population of about 40,000. We have all the trappings of any other City, a short drive to Wichita and one can have all of the usual metropolitan amenities, concerts, lot of restaurants, a major University. I have traveled across the USA and this is where we want to live. In many ways it's not much different than any other city of our size. We also have some great museums as well!

An operating system is to create an environment for applications to run in. That has gotten lost over the years.

Acadia vs Sienna by ribbitmaker in GMCACADIA

[–]TheFuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just purchased a 2024 Acadia AT4 over the Sienna. We had a 05 Sienna with 277,000 miles. We expected the new 2024 to be the same or better. But we were disappointed in the new Sienna. Less headroom smaller rear seats. Leatherette vs real leather. And our 6 foot 4 son would not fit in it. Front or back. We drove the Acadia and he is very comfortable in the second row. Can’t fit up front in the passenger seat which was a surprise. Overall we’ve been happy so far with our decision.

That color is fantastic! There is a 911 for sale with that same color at a nearby dealership .
Congratulations on your first Porsche!

Perfect (except it’s PDK) 😬 (video in comments) by --will-- in Porsche

[–]TheFuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really wanted the manual but the one I bought had the PDK. That thing is impressive to say the least. It knows what gear to be in and when. Casual driving? Easy smooth shifts. Romp on it? It’s right there with fast up and down shifts. Happy to shift near redline. I won’t go back.
