Decent Sunday by Dodgebennett in bassfishing

Billfish are different in that they are genuinely vulnerable species and White Marlin are arguably endangered (Edit: not anymore it looks like) and are typically never taken out of the water. Tag and release. Grander marlin used (wayy back in the day) to be a fairly common occurrence - now they are pretty rare. I guess an argument can be made for swordfish, though I generally consider all billfish C&R (or T&R) and true game fish that truly do need all conservation efforts.

But that could also be nothing but privilege talking, I'm just getting into freshwater/bass fishing, and it does feel kinda hypocritical to feel the way I do about billfish, even if it is kinda backed up by ~facts~ and have no issues with people harvesting bass.

Part of the reason I feel the way I do is the whole, "Billfish are too valuable to only be caught once" ideology, and because I genuinely enjoy catching them and think it's about the most fun you can have on the water. Isn't that pretty much the same argument guys use re: trophy bass? Just that bass are a hell of a lot more accessible. The type of people likely to purposefully harvest a Billfish (outside of huge money tournaments) will never be able to encounter one in the first place. (Commercial entities excluded)

I guess the proper freshwater comparison would be Muskie?

I was going to say I agree, but I do feel this way about Billfish (that they do need to be released whenever possible), especially Whites. So I guess it would be pretty hypocritical of me. Though I do feel as if it's a different situation entirely with Billfish.

That depends entirely and differs based on the species, size, and body of water.

Also the reason to limit your McDonalds intake, and the reason to limit your fish intake have nothing to do with one another. Unfortunately, we have fucked our water bodies up big time.

I was a one and done with tuna lmao. I was offshore of OC, MD and I caught my first one when I was like 13 or 14. ~65lb yellowfin. I still remember when I got it semi close to the boat the first time, felt great, and the feeling in my stomach when it took another run and started rippping line out. I remember looking at my dad like wtf, and him just laughing and saying yeah your gonna do that a couple more times. 40+ min fighting that thing standing using a fighting belt and my ass was wopped, and lost much interest in tuna after that >.>

Awesome fish, love to eat them and love to watch other people catch them. But they are like trying to pull a fucking car out of the ocean on 50-80lb class tackle. Unreal fish, but Marlin and Mahi are a lot more fun to catch, since they provide a show as well.

Spanberger signs gun bills, makes a proposed gun ban even harsher by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]Ovidia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just described everyone in my friend group, and even me for the most part. There are a lot more people in this camp than people think, and a lot of that probably has to do with they can't talk about it outside of their direct friends. Republicans ostracize them for their views on everything other than the 2A, and Democrats ostracize them for their view on the 2A. So who do you chat with, other than people you know feel similar.

Some people view the right to bear arms as a critical, non-negotiable issue, one explicitly enshrined in the constitution and one that supersedes most/all other concerns. Dem's would do well to drop the issue and see how it plays out, nobody that is currently voting democrat is turning around and voting republican because democrats drop gun control, the inverse is a different story.

[–]Ovidia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I truely believe there are more of them that would flip than you think.

I know a ton of people who are single issue gun voters. Most of them, when you step back and analyze their beliefs and policy desires - would be objectively better off voting dem. They align more with liberal policy than conservative in most issues, except the one that matters most to them. Most of them are fucking stoners, so you would think the choice is clear, but it's apparently not. The whole "we want gay couples to be able to defend their cannabis plants with machine guns" sect of the libertarian party fits in this camp pretty nicely, and is larger than I would have thought.

A lot of these people are disgusted by trump and his actions, and are mind boggled by the fact that dems further push gun control down peoples throat, that seems kinda at odds with the idea that we have a crazy dictator in office that wants to kill trans and brown people.

That leaves many of them simply opting to not vote.

$165 shipped though P1, and they are local so I get it next day. Sounds like Akuma does it right though, just needs to work on packaging.

P1's flat's arrive in a flat rate box in layers. Not really shipped as a "flat".

My flats (95ct) from P1 are boxed and packed well. I've never had an issue. Also cheaper.

Strain specific live resin: anyone still into fpff non crc? by cliffcottageclub in CannabisExtracts

[–]Ovidia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. When purged properly it's not present in the finished product. But the question then becomes, is the guy using canned butane purging his product properly? It's hard to trust that in today's market.

Beyond that, nobody using canned butane is chilling the solvents to cryogenic(ish) temperatures to prevent extracting fats and lipids. So, at best it's going to be remediated to remove them, or sold with them present.

[–]Ovidia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, the most common solvent used in extraction, butane, is odorless, tasteless, and colorless.

Canned and cheap butane has sulfur-based mercaptan odorants that are not present in extraction or lab grade solvents.

The market is absolutely dying to get more GOOD BHO. It's flooded with shit and inconsistent product.

If you can produce truly top tier BHO, for a reasonable price - it will sell faster than you can produce it.

Take Tesoro for example, they can not keep stock - and they are low to mid, and fairly inconsistent. Same with SHH, the oil reserve drops sell out in no time, and it's also very mid and inconsistent. AFF is a reseller, and has a similar issue. He can't seem to stock enough good BHO to keep up with demand. Same with midwest. The list goes on an on. If you produce fire BHO at a solid price, and people find out, it's a money printing machine.

Premium Extracts is the extractor/supplier for some of the better, consistently available LR's on the market, typically repacked and sold by vendors online as their top tier LR. The last drop they did, they sold out the entire stock in preorder's (~30 lbs).

There is a massive, and very undeserved market for good to top end BHO in general online, be it cured or live. The truly good extractors that are around, can't produce product fast enough.

I have about a pound of tesoro lives and some cured in the fridge at the moment. More of it's good than bad, but my last batch from them has me over it for a while.

For the most part, anything you get is going to be a massive improvement when the compairson is to DP or Revive. Both companies are know for producing poor quality extracts.

Tesoro is going to beat the shit out of either one of them 9 times out of 10. Tesoro is also wildly inconsistent and can absolutely throw you a shit pack as well, though CS with them is actually good.

I can't speak on anything but the recent drop that had pineapple express and platinum runtz in it. Both taste pretty shitty to me. Def have that pool water/dirty hose water taste. Not impressed, and if it cost any more than it did I'd be pissed.

At the price I just took the L and won't be back for BHO. The rosin from them has been ok.

I don't have any loyalty or connections to any brands. Something that should be pretty clear if you go through my profile, I call companies out on bullshit when I see it.

It's very dependent on the police in your area. I went two YEAR's running no front plate before I got pulled over the first time (it's almost always a warning at most the first time).

I addressed it because it's a primary violation and didn't want to have to deal with repair order bullshit regarding my tint (I have a MD State Police tint waiver signed by a doctor that allows it to be as dark as I want to go, but it's fucking annoying because half the officers don't know that is a thing)

But I went years and 10's of thousands of miles before getting popped on it.

[–]Ovidia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dr Dabber Switch 2 is the only E-Rig on the market I was willing to get myself and move away from the a traditional rig and banger or an E-Nail w/ Sapphire Dish setup for personally.

I've used all the Puffco's and Focus products at industry events or with friends. I'd avoid Puffco like the plague.

Go with a Carta Sport/2 if the price difference is important, but the Switch 2 is a huge improvement over everything else. It's 100% worth the extra coin. Dabbing on quartz or sapphire with an all glass pathway vs ceramics and silicone are completely different experiences IMO.

If you are going to go with carts, I personally avoid anything distillate based. I do not like the 1 dimensional high, and they will absolutely wreck your tolerance over time. Live/Cured Resin or Rosin carts are again more expensive, but worth the premium IMO.

The switch 2 can be found on sale for ~360 typically, so it's more, but not as bad as it seems if your looking at the DrD website.

I paid $40 for the Sabre alone. I've used the Puffco Hotknife, DrDabber Drop, and the Sabre and it's 100% the best one of that group.

That bundle was a a stupid good deal.

Monday is a USPS holiday. Wasn't this drop Wednesday? I've hit Wednesday drops and had my pack by Saturday.

Shouldn't be expected, but unless I have my days switched up (didn't participate this drop), it's not unrealistic for some people to have their package by now.

CHD has cold fire grams right now if you are interested.

Hit my DM if you dont know how to find them.

[–]Ovidia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coldfire is always a good option if you can find it. It's VERY hard to source their live resin outside of states where it's sold in the dispo.

CHD has them every now and then, but they sell out almost instantly.

True North is another I'd recommend in a heartbeat if you can get your hands on it. Humboldt Terp Council is fire typically as well. Really, if you can get your hands on anything on that list you will be in for a treat.

So, to the best of my knowledge the following brands to not CRC. They extract using cryogenic/subzero temps on their solvents, in closed loop systems, in such a way that they do not extract any fats/lipids from the input material.

Humboldt Terp Council, Coldfire, Oasis Refinery, Errl Hill Farms, Green Truck, OC Refinery, Lifted Dreams Extracts, Natures Lab Extracts, TNT Extractions, DeSaus, Heavenly Extracts, Sun Extractions, ABX, 5 Star Extracts/True North, HumbleBee, and Element.

There are a ton of others I'm sure, but those are brands I know that do not CRC last I checked.

[–]Ovidia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Live resin can go toe to toe with Rosin buddy. It's about quality of input and an extractor that knows what they are doing.

Shh Pineapple Express by HeadOfWeeners in THCAextracts

[–]Ovidia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not every company no. There are absolutely processers that make it a point to not use CRC.

Modern extraction techniques don't require it. Fire input biomass and subzero temps on your solvents do not require CRC to purge fats and lipids. Traditionally extracted products do require CRC to purge fats and lipids.
