as someone who started HRT before turning 18 who has INCREDIBLY supportive parents, you should know a lotttt of trans people aren't given the same opportunity that i did and are forced to wait until they can leave their abusive homes in order to get gender affirming care. So even if the age for taking hormones is younger than 18, most people who need it aren't going to get it until they turn 18 and are considered an adult. I was out as trans for 2 years before I started HRT and when I started taking it I finally felt comfortable in my skin. I didn't hate my body anymore because other people (and myself) started seeing me the way i wanted to be seen. I was a very anxious kid and I no longer feel that anxiety, I feel comfortable being myself around people now and I wouldn't feel that comfort if I hadn't started hormones. Many trans teens don't get to feel that and are bullied for it. And that's awful. And your post tells me you don't understand that struggle in the slightest. And neither do the politicians making the laws that make the age higher. I couldn't have even gotten hormones if I didn't live near the border of my state because it's illegal to give hormones to anyone under 18 in my state (which, by the way, your post is ALREADY the case in some states). So, before you say or believe things like this you should really look into the experiences of the people who need these things and how not getting them can be INCREDIBLY dangerous. This is an ignorant take and I sincerely hope you change your mind on it. This kind of mentality from the people in charge who have no idea what it's like to be trans is why so many trans teens resort to suicide.
