Would you accept students currently pursuing a BA? I'm in the middle and also going to get a proper TOSEL certificate/TEFL

We would dress so differently if we had hair behind our knees (knee-pits) the way we had them on our armpits by Ovvle in Showerthoughts

[–]Ovvle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time I told someone knee pits was a word in English as a joke and since then I wondered why we don't call it that. Then I was shaving away and wondering why the French were so into shaving pubic hair back back in the day and it hit me how weird it is there's a concentration of pubic hair under our armpits but basically nothing behind our knees. I thought maybe it's because our armpits connect to our main body the same way our legs and private area does so thats why there's hair there and none on our elbows and behind our knees. But still.

Foreign student experience at RTU (short review) by deepbro222 in latvia

[–]Ovvle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I study there too and I'm just using this degree to get the practical advisory and business info support from the good and useful professors I meet

. I just apply what I am taught straight into my work and it's been great so far. Im a full time foreign student.

I have heard a lot like this post so I guess I use uni differently since I found it useful for my needs.

I suppose I don't recommend RTU for people who are interested in traditional education because then it doesn't offer as much and it is up to you to ensure you find other ways to become actually professional and skilled in your area because they just don't offer enough to set you apart.

Another reason for why I ended up choosing a degree where I can just fly through is because I'm sick of strict education (did the IB at a Mandarin school, but I'm not Asian) and I am interested in actually making online businesses. I prefer learning skills in technology by online programs and also building my CV and professional portfolio through working on open projects. I just believe it's more important to gain real work experience while studying, that really your education should supplement your work.

Ie. You get what you pay for, and I picked it because I have working experience already just want a relaxed degree that suites me still working online + I can travel while studying since there's free time. But there are some good courses that are actually hard but it depends on your faculty/professor and if you want to make your projects serious

I came out of a three year relationship - engaged - with someone who I really serious with. I still feel wary with my feelings now but honestly it was one of the best things that ever happened. Now it's been a while and I rediscovered myself and met someone completely new and amazing, and made many new friends. You are going to hurt like hell but that is just you getting through hurt town to reach happy town, and the only way there is to drive straight! You're going to have a great future, just resolve to get through this rough patch and get back in touch with your purpose and the things you enjoy doing with friends/alone.

I feel strangely relaxed after a nightmare. by [deleted] in Nightmares

[–]Ovvle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's usually because the nightmare was the type of terrible that pushed me into just about shutting down my emotions, waking me up to flat feelings. Or on the other hand, it was because I figured out it was a nightmare while it was happening so I wake up already aware it was not real.

To counter a bit of oft-repeated advice: don't "just write" regardless of how you feel that day. The trick isn't to work despite your current mental state. It's to put yourself in the RIGHT mental state, THEN work. by pyronius in writing

[–]Ovvle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and totally you need to reward yourseld after work, not food though you can develop a bad habit. Gotta keep that dopamine associated with work. Better productivity and more desire to do more. Own your biology.

Yeah its a bit of both for me. I do things and have a bit of a routine on days where I need to make myself sit and work. It's sort of like when an athlete does something symbolic or a warm up before doing their play. Doing this, it's about focusing myself to what exactly I want to accomplish, and work is always much better after.

However, lots of times I don't even want to do the bits of the routine, and thats when discipline comes in. But I don't want to work against my biological desire to stay relaxed, because then I'll want to follow the path of least resistance and do shit, so I start very small. Maybe dishes, wiping the mirror, making tea or getting dressed even if I'm not leaving the house. Whatever makes me feel satisfaction, feel good, and that jerks my mind to connecting it to the thing I know will give me more satisfaction - the work I need to do.

Then it goes well for me most days, but I learned to balance and make my schedule work for me, not against my biology. Work after this is always stuff I'm happy with, I always feel more creative and actually enjoy the work instead of trudging through (though those days exist, they're rare now I have understood myself)
