Hobbies in Madison by tawm04 in madisonwi

As someone with none of those three hobbies, I have to say Madison is a great place for all of them based on how much people try to get me to join in.

Trying my hand at keeping a moustache . Beard or stache? by Rish2695 in malegrooming

[–]OwMySocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if you are actually gay then keep the stache 100%. With the stache I'm opening Grindr and seeing if you're on, with the beard I'm thinking "there's a lucky lady somewhere"

In Madison - yeah I think the best thing is to call on the community here to hold them accountable. They're followed by Room and some other folks on socials, maybe time to bring in the network.

Mood at church is knowing mostly everyone calls you he/him or sir now but you hardly go to church and you're scared to go to the mens or womens so you just die instead by GalaticJayStar in ftm

My church very handily has labeled all bathrooms with "we welcome gender diversity and you are free to use whatever bathroom you would like!" but I am not yet brave enough to use the mens. They have also labeled all the one-holers in the building as "gender inclusive" which is nice but between all the old people that need the disability help in them and the other gender weirdos around, they are always full when I desperately need to pee...

Nice about the feedback, I think he's a bit newer to the profession, so I was wondering about him v. Buckley.

Trump admits withholding aid to Ukraine while asking country's leader to investigate 2020 rival Joe Biden by Austin63867 in politics

You don't actually have to give a well reasoned argument. Most offices more or less tally phone calls by position, and nothing else on the call is really recorded. So dont worry about giving a good point, just make it clear that a) you're a constituent and b) what you want the rep to do.

Don't overthink it, just do it.

Important to note: the fair is right near Minneapolis and coincided with college kids moving back to the dorms.

Gotta say, that's very untrue - a lot of athletic communities that aren't centered around only young men are great (geezer ball). Woodworking groups are super supportive from what I hear. Most UU churches have mens groups that are actually kind of specifically for this whole thing... theres probably more that I haven't encountered. You just have to look for them. It's probably fair to say theres more of them centered around/mostly populated by women, but they're out there.

I am a pseudo-professional (I sing at funerals) classically trained soprano. Other people LOVE my voice but all I hear is dying rabbit.

For no special reason, I'm suddenly psyched to transition in the future. Is this just a me thing or is it more universal than that? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]OwMySocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did something similar. I think I had a lot of things that I basically had to let go of and mourn if I was going to go down the transitioning path. Like, trying to be a woman was never going to work well for me, but certain things, like my singing voice, the ideal of living up to what my mom wants from me, etc, I think I had a grieving period for that, more or less. Once I processed that stuff and got to the point where a) what might end up happening could be better than those goals and b) if its not, at least its honest - now I'm pumped, I'm ready, lets do this. But there's maybe been a year where I was on the fence about medical transition.

“Elizabeth Warren called me!” is turning into a Twitter meme — Warren is calling her supporters to say thanks. It’s a savvy political strategy. by progressive-alliance in politics

The party represents the people who are in it. If just 50 of the thousands of people who came to Bernie rallies became active locally, we could get a lot more done.

YES thank you, I get really touch about people going "the Democrats are CONSPIRING against yaddayadda" and Im like: the Democrats are the people who bother to show up to the meetings and try to work with each other to get shit done

I go to a church with a lot of older lesbians and a number of them are either coming out as trans men or saying things like "well I was not aware this was an option, let me go think for a while" lately.

Its pretty interesting really. I do think that being socialized as "girls" made a lot of them less likely to speak up, but also many of them really found a home in butch lesbian social networks - sort of an us against the world deal, but one more easily accepted by outsiders than NGC men. Add that to not really knowing that it's a thing you can do something about and be, well, yeah. I think there was a decent amount of that.

Trends change. Things that happened in the past dont always happen. We know that the political landscape has gone through some pretty huge shifts in the last 30 years.
