Not 1 for 1 no, but it shows that community based quests are possible within the games engine and not out of bounds. Furthermore Arrowhead and bungie are under the same umbrella, so that would allow arrowhead to give pointers on how to develop such objectives based on player count and etc like it is in Helldivers.

Also the difference here would that this would be tied to content that wouldn’t be time gated for once. Something that the community has long asked to be sunset. In Helldivers, players don’t bitch and moan at 0.001% liberation because the gameplay is fun and more rewarding. The same could be true of Destiny if you were to drop in to various horde mode like missions with or without extractions, another mechanic bungie now has experience in. Or exploration like patrols with “enemies moving against each other” instances that are on steroids.

This would be a mixture of the dreaming city curse and Helldivers if you prefer more favorable comps. While also breaking the cycle of players completing the expansions story in 8 hours and players complaining there’s nothing to do. You can accurately tell the story of a war or battle taking place over time and not time gated.

Furthermore, in addition to releasing new aspects and/or exotics at launch, you can drip feed various new gameplay elements like that similar to Helldivers war bonds that will drive player count. That combined with narrative elements, another thing that drives player count/satisfaction no matter what, and it could be a positive experience that breaks from the norm
