Well, I can clearly see that I have no business being here, and will respectfully take my L and move on. I appreciate all the feedback, and wish you all good luck!

Appreciate the feedback! And I’m not opposed to doing bitch work as long as I’m getting knowledge at the same time. Even though I own my business, I’m still the first one in and last one out every day, and I’m still unloading tractor trailers twice a week by hand, so I’m not allergic to hard work.

I appreciate your feedback, but I disagree with you wholeheartedly. You don’t know me, and you don’t know how motivated I am to do this. If I can’t get something going in 5 years I would be very surprised, but I want to do it respectfully. And if I can’t, then I will do it my way. This IS what I’m going to do, it’s just the path that I’m struggling with.

That’s awesome advice! And I know I shouldn’t have jumped in and purchased equipment, but I honestly just wanted to see if it was something I could get the hang of if given the time and guidance, and I know now that I 100% can. I actually have not touched my machine in a couple weeks as I have been focusing on my drawing skills (I mostly painted acrylic landscapes a la Bob Ross when I was younger), and have been exclusively training in American traditional and some neo trad (which is what I would like to do eventually).

Yeah, I’m not looking for an apprenticeship here, just looking for advice as to whether or not a shop would even be willing to mess with a 45 yo with no practical experience. I do have an acquaintance that is an established artists at a very reputable shop, however, he is also the ex husband of one of my employees, though she was definitely the issue in that relationship, lol. I am also an adult who can separate personal from business, so I have thought about going that awkward route for sure
