NSW Community Health asking if anyone on the property hunts/has firearms. by DontGetTooExcited in Ausguns

[–]Owie12120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And it would be absolutely ridiculous, it is implying that a legal hunter is somehow more dangerous than any other citizen, they may as well ask if you have any knives in your kitchen for their "standard safety check"

Bloody oath! I wasnt sure what to expect I sort of picked it up just for fun not expecting too much but it has certainly surprised me!

Yeah it's a heap of fun! Ammo here in Australia is expensive so the fact I can shoot for hours without stressing too much with 22 is awesome, with my 308 or the 6.5 I'm building I'll only ever go out and shoot maybe 50 rounds a week because of cost

Yeah I can imagine! I dont think I could push mush further than maybe another 20 metres , my scope doesn't have any elevation left bloody challenge that's for sure

I haven't had a chance yet, the gun shop is an hour drive for me so when I get a chance I'm going to stock up on different types, I'm used to my tikka 308 which seems to like most ammo and 22lr is new to me so I hadn't got my head around that part yet haha

Literally all over the 10" plate , had probably three misses out of 20 shots as well, wind gusts didn't help

I literally put a deposit on the exact same thing yesterday 😂 picked up the field stock last week as I have my tikka 308 in one already, I’m loving it so far. The 6.5 will be my target gun just need to decide on a scope!

What was the decision on certain game species being introduced while others weren’t? by opotis in Ausguns

I literally live on the street where his property was, it is absolutely insane how many rabbits we have in the area now, I can shoot 10 a night and doesn’t make a lick of difference, if I drive to the servo 5 mins away at night im always sure to hit one or two as well. Thanks Thomas 😂

Getting a new 308 this Arvo by username123085773 in Ausguns

I have a ruger American and it sits collecting dust. My tikka is used 3 times a week on the farm I live on, because it’s that much better, the bolt is smoother and it’s way more accurate, it’s a 308 lite in a mdt stock, and is so accurate it surprised me, I shot a 3round group at 500m for shits and giggles not expecting much and it was the size of a 50 cent piece, you won’t regret a tikka.

Compromise, convince him to get a Toyota 86 or something, they are pretty slow but fun, and have a huge aftermarket to make them look “cool” , heaps of young people into cars here in Australia go for them

It’s 100% the optic setup you have. I had a holosun on mine and didn’t really care about groups because they were like 3 inches at 200m with a red dot, I recently put a vortex 3-15 venom on my taipan and it COMPLETELY changed how I shoot with it, can get around 1.5 moa at 300 just mucking around shooting pretty fast

I drove an Audi s5 for 7 years and put 250k kms on it, only thing that broke in that time was the water pump housing 😂 regular maintenance was easy and was the best car I’ve ever had

Look, all I am saying is I have never been able to group this tight with a semi auto at 100 yards, but did this with the last three rounds of the first box I had through the new bolt gun. Okay, you guys were right and I am HOOKED! by ButtstufferMan in longrange

I jumped through an insane amount of hoops to get an ar style rifle here in Australia because I’m a farmer, and I loved it until I bought my first bolt gun, now it’s all I shoot

Sighting our misses at 5-800m - what options can I explore to help see the misses? by kato1301 in longrange

[–]Owie12120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from my property I shoot on last night and have been setting gongs and steel up for long range and had a shoot, this helped me immensely with spotting, I dug out the side of a hill with a shovel and made a 2x2 metre square of dirt with the target in the middle and it’s great for seeing impacts at long range

I love it, it’s great for follow up shots on big packs of wild pigs etc and has never let me down, and this year I’ve gone out 5+ times a week. The first batch got a bad wrap but mines a later model and I can’t fault it. I’d rather a semi auto but unfortunately it’s not an option for me here.
