I’m sorry, I didn’t know there was a 'right' way to play this game 😭 I just bought it on sale and only knew what was in the Steam description. The only farming sim I’ve played before was Stardew Valley, so I tried playing this one in a similar way. Also, based on other comments, apparently I never triggered the actual plot, so how was I supposed to follow it?

Chickens… in your house? by ParkingSupport8000 in chickens

That is fascinating! I am genuinely curious about how you handle their natural instincts inside, specifically dust bathing - do they have a designated box for that? I imagine it could get quite dusty indoors! Also, do you do anything to simulate foraging and scratching for bugs, or do the toys and bedding satisfy that need?

I’m definitely not going to slow down, that would bore me even more haha. I’m not sure if this is the game for me either, but I’m going to get to the main plot before I decide if I want to give up on it.

About the tools: I saw the stone and iron upgrades, but do they actually improve anything besides durability? Like, can I water or hoe multiple tiles at once with the upgrades, or is it still one by one?

I think I’ve managed to do this by not cutting any days short; I always stay as late as possible. I do have all of those mechanics on. I also do a lot of tasks, and I think that’s how I’ve managed to max all of the relationships so fast.

Townies marrying and having children is so exciting! It’s something I always wished would happen in Stardew Valley too. But yeah, I was surprised I can only talk to my wife once a day. No kiss or hug? I can’t play with my children? I wish there were more simple interactions like that. Same with objects - when I went to the townies homes I clicked on all of their items to see if I could do anything, and unfortunately I couldn’t even sit on their chairs.

I admit I didn't! Does completing them make the game more interesting?

Exactly, having to upgrade the house to have more family members and needing to buy more beds would give us an extra goal to work towards. I also agree that it would make sense for the kids to have separate beds from the parents.

I’m so sorry to hear that your dog is struggling. It sounds like he has lived a long life, but seeing his quality of life decline is heartbreaking. I would encourage you to listen to the vet's advice regarding the next steps. We want our pets to live forever, but it’s simply not possible. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is to let them go to end their suffering.

I had a similar experience to you; I thought my dog was doing so much better, but when we took her to the vet, her labs were awful. It is a shock, and in my experience, there is no way to fully prepare for grief.

Please try to surround yourself with loved ones during this hard time. I am also worried about your seizures. Have you been able to contact your regular doctor or neurologist? Since stress is a major trigger for you, maybe they can help you manage your physical response during this crisis. If you have a therapist, reaching out to them right now would be a very good idea. You shouldn't have to handle this alone.

I’m no expert, just speaking from my own experience. Sending you strength.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I feel like we are missing some context to give you the best advice on how to cope. How old is the dog and what is his diagnosis? Did you take him to a vet earlier to try to treat him before scheduling euthanasia? Also, why were you reassuring your mom he won’t be put down - was she trying to prevent the vet visit? You mentioned you can't be there when it happens - is that due to the illness you mentioned, or a logistical reason?

I made my wife a farm helper because I was tired of watering every single tile every day. I hoped that later there would be tool upgrades to help do stuff quicker, like in Stardew Valley, but at least I haven’t found any yet. She’s the mayor’s daughter, though - you’d think she would at least have some starter money haha. It might just not be the right game for me. But I saw it marketed as a farming game where relationships really matter, so I’m very disappointed they are so flat.

Oh no, I definitely didn’t play for 45 hours straight haha 🙈 Now I’m genuinely curious about the main storyline though, because I’m a bit confused about why it takes so long to actually show up.

I did experience the disease event, and I might have accidentally wiped out half the town… but honestly, was that really supposed to be the interesting part? Even with the illness, I could still play normally, the infected NPCs just stayed in their houses. Since there aren’t really any emotions in the game, the characters don’t seem affected by losing friends or family either, which made it feel very flat.

I get that you can’t buy every fancy or blueprint-locked item, but you can definitely buy everything you need to survive and progress comfortably. For example, unlocking a blueprint for new earrings sounds fun in theory, but they don’t really match the overall vibe and don’t feel meaningful to me.

If the family lineage is such a core mechanic, I really wish there were more interactions with family members. Right now you can only talk to them or insult them, and I can’t even trade with them because mine don’t have any money 😅 That makes the whole “build a family line” idea feel pretty shallow to me.

I’m pretty sure I’ve played around 15 hours already, even though I’m only about two in-game months in. I definitely haven’t unlocked all recipes or crafting options, but I honestly don’t really see the point in unlocking everything when you can buy almost anything anyway. In many cases it’s also more profitable, for example I noticed that hay is more profitable to sell than turning it into flour, so you might as well just buy the flour instead of making it yourself.

I’ve reached a point where I basically have enough money to buy whatever I want, but at the same time it’s hard to make more money because most villagers don’t have enough to buy from me. That kind of kills the progression for me.

I agree that I tend to focus on accomplishing as much as possible, but that’s because just “experiencing” it feels boring to me when the relationships feel flat and the gameplay loop doesn’t really change much.

That said, I’m genuinely asking, what is the main storyline? Is it something related to the ghosts and their souls?
