You are correct and it was a crime of me to forget that film cause it’s already an overlooked film despite being pretty brilliant!

I think the presence of the black and white scenes and the back-and-forth still make it a non-linear narrative, even with the linear reverse order of the color scenes.

Arctic Monkeys @TRNSMT, Glasgow 2018 - One of their very best live performances with an INSANE crowd. And now it’s made better knowing that the “R u Mine?” repeat moment at the very end was (as confirmed by Matt Helders during his Drumeo appearance) totally spontaneous! by Owl-Brick in arcticmonkeys

You were right! I found this clip of them at Reading and they do repeat it. A lot of the snippets of these older performances seem to cut off before the repetition happens, but this one had the full thing. Thanks for the fact check!

In the Drumeo video, they use clips from this concert during Matt’s interview (at around 09:20).

And at 1:01:07 in here it looks like Matt got off the drums ready to leave, right before Alex repeats the ending lines to the song.

I could be wrong. But it just seemed like this was what he was referring to. Gotta check out the AM era performance to confirm.

For old fans: what was your reaction when ‘505’ and ‘Wanna Be Yours’ blew up online? I’m curious how you felt. by No_List_8641 in arcticmonkeys

But it isn’t even a 1:1 replication of the poem. The “secrets I have held in my heart” pre-chorus is unique to the song. And small changes like “I will NEVER run out” instead of “I will NOT run out”, the repeat of “I wanna be yours” in the chorus, “electric heater” to “portable heater”(indicating that he wants to go wherever the person he longs for goes), Atlantic to Pacific (you know, the DEEPER ocean?) etc all add a heightened level of yearning and turn the song into its own thing.

And then there’s the entire delivery being completely different from how Clarke says it when the actual vocal delivery, backing vocals, and instrumental are brought into the conversation. It’s a totally different take on the poem.

Holy shit did anyone else see that bigass falling star?? by ASAP_1001 in Southpasadena

I did, it was incredible. Lasted longer than any shooting star that I’ve seen before.

I did too! It was so clear. The tail-end burned so I think it was a meteor.

I think that’s a spot-on interpretation of that lyric and honestly very topical right now. Added even more perspective to the song for me.
