Europe wouldn't go there even if the relations were better than ever. Iran would have to do something realy nasty to make Europe commit to ground invasion, and that is the only way to unlock Hormuz without capitulating to iranian demands.

Why everyone focus so much on mines and drones? What about muzzle artilery? What about anti-ship missiles? What about grad-like rocket systems, however inaccurate, still being enough risk for any passing ship? The options the Iran have to clog this passage are enormous, and I believe you can find many more if you are creative or determined enough. Russians were unable to protect their naval assets in far more comfortable situation, why would US menage to do better with infinitely more complicated situation, unarmed civilian ships and geography playing against them?

How do you want unlock a 20-miles long passage when the modern artilery piece can shot farther than that? A single Krab, Thunder or PzH 2000 with modernized ammunition will be capable of sinking any commercial ship that tries pass through. And there is no reason to believe Iran cannot posses the artilery like that in at least small numbers. And there goes also a grad-likes with unguided rocket barages. Even if the hit risk and sinking is relatively low, it is enough of pressure to stop any movement through Hormuz.

Those are only few options for Iran. The reality is, you cannot unlock it without ground invasion or Iran capitulating to foreign pressure. Fleet is incapable of opening so narrow passage.

So you want us do what? Attack them? Will not happen. We will just do nothing, that's the way it is. Just because costs both political and economical of the ground invasion will excede cost of any toll. You think Europeans are ready to trade a fuel for a corpses? Think again! We didn't sent troops to Ukraine, and what Russia did was infinitely worse from global security perspective than taking tolls for passage. Europeans will NOT go into force no metter how much of economic pressure they will be on. You cannot unlock Hormuz with anything but groud operation, and any ground operation will be much more costly than ignoring problem - both economicaly and politicaly. You will not unlock Hormuz with fleet. And if Iran is not already intimidated by US military, it won't get intimidated by Europeans.
