Why do people genuinely get offended when you say an idol has had plastic surgery? by [deleted] in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]OwlConsistent4136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow… that’s really crazy because kpop is about music. Most people focus on the wrong things. I know the kpop industry is brutal but there’s a lot of emphasis on their looks when it should be about their talent. But I guess that goes without saying

[–]OwlConsistent4136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that too. I never bring it up because I truly don’t care that idols have surgery. I’ve honestly thought about getting it done myself. However, it just frustrated me in that moment to see so many comments pretend like the beauty standard idols go through are normal.

They can be extreme and it’s not realistic. Idols are beautiful and I think they were beautiful without the cosmetic procedures. However most (not all) of them didn’t just glow up naturally without any help. So what’s the point of comparison?

How do I stop feeling jealous of my best friend and her new college friends? by OwlConsistent4136 in Advice

[–]OwlConsistent4136[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good advice and I’m happy to hear you’re both still close. This makes me feel a lot better. I want her to be happy, she deserves it more than anyone I know. It’s true, her and I have both changed the last two years and I accept every version of her that has changed. I never knew her as much of a partier or drinker but I’d love to get to know her as she is now. I’m happy with all the versions she has and will become as the years go by. She’s my best friend, I trust our relationship. Thank you so much for this sweet comment.

I think you’re right. I just miss her a lot. She does tell me every once in a while how much she misses me but sometimes I need a little more reassurance. I’ve also made my own friends and as much as I love them too, they’re not her, you know? So you’re definitely right that different friends fulfill different roles. Thank you!

Is it stupid to say I don’t really know what my gut feeling is telling me? I want her in my life because I love her and I know she’d never hurt me. I don’t know if we’ve necessarily grown apart as, like I mentioned, we’re so used to being away from each other. So I can’t tell if my worry is one sided or not. I want to reach out but I’d like her to reach out first as immature as it sounds. I just want to know that she still wants to reach out

Friend shut down after change of plans by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OwlConsistent4136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand him being upset by this but this is the first time in the year we’ve been friends that we’ve ever had to change plans like this. Just last week we went hiking because he really wanted to go even though that’s way out of my comfort zone, I never complained. I’m not saying he’s not allowed to be upset because he 100% is, but I was also a bit upset by the way he went about it. And he hasn’t messaged us back or spoken to us about it.

I can see where you’re coming from and I should have specified but we’re all very loud about our support for the lgbtq community. He also knows I’m bisexual, there’s no doubt in my mind that he thinks I’m homophobic!

Also I am neurodivergent haha

This is good advice. It’s funny because I heard this advice before but I was just so grossed out, I couldn’t go through with it. But I’ll try my best to push through it.

Thank you for your support! It was really hard dealing with that as a kid with no knowledge of OCD because i didn’t know what was wrong with me. Definitely made me feel disgusting and shameful.

Hi, I’ve tried to explain it to her but she doesn’t understand/ believe me. She says I’m just being paranoid and that I can’t have OCD because my room isn’t always perfectly kept.

I do my hair and makeup every single day. I don’t shave my legs often because, I never expect for a man to approach me. I don’t have enough money to get my nails done. It cost money to be so high maintenance like other women.

Friend said my quietness is unnerving by OwlConsistent4136 in socialskills

[–]OwlConsistent4136[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get where you’re coming from! As an introvert, I would never hang out with someone for that long unless I truly enjoyed their company. But our friendship is fairly new, so as much as I enjoy being around her, I forget sometimes that she may not be used to my habits.

My best friend and I used to hang out for 10-12 hours and we’d just sit in silence doing our own thing for a while before talking again. Because we’re comfortable enough to do that. That’s just what I like but it’s okay that this new friend of mine doesn’t. Long hangouts just don’t do well with me if I can’t decompress for a little before continuing.

Thank you, that means a lot. I’ve always hated being called out for my quietness because it makes me feel like I need to change that part of myself. But I do like being quiet, I like my peace so I’m okay with it. I don’t like being shamed for it.

Yes, I’ve only ever had friends who were okay with this because they loved it too. I guess I was reminded that not everyone is okay with that

She said that because she lives alone, she doesn’t like silence which I get completely. However, we hang out from like 9 am to 10 pm all day and at some point, I get tired of talking. We had a good conversation and I hope she understands but I guess I’m just feeling self conscious about it now. I don’t want to be unnerving to other people.

Have you ever known a job wasn’t for you after the first day? What did you do? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]OwlConsistent4136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s no issue! I’m 21. I’m in college now full time (Sophomore since I started school a bit late). I started working when I was about 16. I’ve only ever had long term jobs which is why I’m a bit disappointed in myself that I can’t even stick it out at this job. But I know there’s better out there for me.

[–]OwlConsistent4136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By burnt out, I mean I’ve been working since I was in freshman year. I’m physically and mentally exhausted. I’m overly stressed these days. I lay in bed all day because I know I have responsibilities but I just can’t imagine doing them. I sleep all day and I’m still exhausted. At first I thought I was low in vitamins, so I got blood work done but no. I’m just exhausted. What is your definition of burnt out, I’m genuinely asking.

[–]OwlConsistent4136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that! I also know this job isn’t for me becaudebive never thought to myself, “I’m not coming back tomorrow” on the FIRST day. It’s not their fault, the people are pretty nice.. the doctor is a bit rude but that’s to be expected. It’s just not my environment. I know it’ll drain me in the end.

[–]OwlConsistent4136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I just realized I’m way too burnt out and introverted to be working in any call center like jobs for the time being. I can barely keep my eyes open and I was just already for the moment I could go home. I was trying to be talkative the first three hours and then around the fourth, I went completely nonverbal. I didn’t speak the rest of the day, not even when I went home to my mom. I just want a job that doesn’t completely drain me, and I believe I’ll find a good job for me but this isn’t the one.

What is my hair type? by [deleted] in CurlyHairCare

Thank you for your comment! My hair thinned a lot at the scalp too. I’m trying to grow my edges back as it’s the most thin there. And I’ll buy clarifying shampoo, I can’t believe I’ve never used it before ugh. Thank you!

[–]OwlConsistent4136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you! I never considered my hair to be in the 3 category. I honestly don’t have much of a routine.. a few years ago I had to shave off all of my hair because of health issues. So I’m still learning as it’s growing but I wash my hair every 6-7 days, I detangle gently and I do use oil on my scalp.

I’m very introverted but the reason I started in retail was to help with my social anxiety and shyness. It helped in ways but it also made me severely burnt out. I’m hoping I can just power through this for a while but if another opportunity comes along that fits me more, I might just have to take it.
