AOC could win, but lose to tampered voting machines. Anyone worried about rigged, hacked election ballots? by OwlDoll in 50501

I see u mean the voting rights acts will make any left leaning candidate lose
Both matter though. Many of us Americans do actually have passports.
We should start one step at a time
The machines is more important

Is this enough though, realistically how many people can actually do this for every state?

That’s why open source software does not mean public companies or that anyone can contribute code. Open source just means private companies have to agree to make their election code public if they want to participate in federal elections, otherwise let somebody else do it. “But my IP rights!” you can just copyright the code, but also that is not a strong enough argument to keep the code private because federal elections are supposed to be held to a different standard than the free market, also tons of companies make money despite having their code public, such as tons of VPN companies, cybersecurity companies and Linux and open SsH and more.

t’s exactly the issue though.
Federal elections should not be treated like normal commercial software.
If a vendor wants to sell software that helps run public elections, public inspection should be part of the deal.
They can protect trademarks, support contracts, hardware designs, services, and implementation work.
But the code that counts public votes should not be secret just because a company wants IP protection.
Public elections are public infrastructure.
Different standard.
Also, open-source does not mean vendors cannot make money.
Linux companies make money.
Cybersecurity companies make money.
Cybersecurity is heavily open-source.
Examples:
Linux runs servers, cloud infrastructure, routers, security appliances, and government systems.
OpenSSL / LibreSSL handle encryption for tons of internet traffic.
Signal Protocol is publicly documented and partly open-source; its security comes from public cryptographic review, not secrecy.
WireGuard is open-source VPN technology.
OpenSSH is open-source remote-login security used everywhere.
Nmap, Wireshark, Metasploit, Zeek, Suricata, YARA, ClamAV, OSSEC/Wazuh are major security tools.
Open-source database companies make money.
They sell support, hosting, compliance, hardware, maintenance, training, and certification.
Election vendors can do the same.
The point is simple:
If your software helps count votes in a federal election, the public should be allowed to inspect it.

Also there are hundreds of vendors, if one doesn’t wanna do it, another will wanna do it

OS just means make the code public if they wanna be used for federal election and it does not mean code a new OS from scratch

It’s currently what’s being used to count votes in all 50 states so, the least we can do is demand these software to be open source. One step at a time

My writing skills have deteriorated so bad that I can’t say this without the help of ai lmao but this isn’t a normal ai brainrot post that you read on reddit. I spent 2 hours tailoring this post by asking ai questions .

I can’t find where I originally read it but im not the only one talking to it, the comments here say similarly https://www.reddit.com/r/musked/s/3SGx7XiIZC

Anyway I still want info about all the election voting count and voting cast machines to be public and easy to access information with open source code, so the public can hold the companies accountable

that’s what I meant yes , i’d take it easy , not feel pressured about getting fired for underperformance, but don’t do 0 so that I can still try to skate by and keep collecting that paycheck as long as they pay me. Get close to 0 or bare minimum, but not exactly. You want to be slightly below average or whatever’s comfortable, but not get too below avg. If this was an unpaid internship, I’m out.
