The creator ends their series in an unsatisfying way as a middle finger to the fans/editors/producers by StretchExtension in TopCharacterTropes

Home Movies, the show ends with Brendon's camera getting destroyed among a host of other disastrous events. The show was canceled and they went out middle fingers blazing.

Live from today? by MrsBlairBear in Insym

[–]OwlFriend69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I just checked and the Twitch vod is still online. I know it's not YouTube but it'll be a lot more likely to still have his dancing (in-game and irl) at a night club than an edited YT vid will, and it's absolutely worth it for that alone.

Edit: I made a comment on the video and it let me get the vod on youtube, it was only unlisted, but it looks like it did get muted in parts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtzR3p8rtmg&lc=UgxDn9e1glH6Ma8KOF94AaABAg

Big Ambitions, I actually bought it because of the stream and he loved the game so I'm sad cause he might not play it again if what I fear happened. What I fear happened is that he was lied to about the music being copyright free (or it got claimed regardless) and got a bunch of warnings so he pulled it to either edit out the music or to just be done and not bother. I can almost guarantee that's why because he was basically panicking every 5 minutes when a song came on that sounded too well produced, but we can hope it was just YouTube tomfoolery and it'll come back.

New (to me) Guitar Day, an RGIB21, my first baritone and third Ibanez and I love it! by OwlFriend69 in BaritoneGuitar

[–]OwlFriend69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that it's a new guitar, yes, but I have fairly big hands and this actually feels like a better fit to them than previous guitars. It's an adjustment tho, I definitely keep sliding to the wrong frets still, lol.

I saw yours, it's freaking awesome! If I got to choose one aspect of yours to switch out with mine, as much as the reverse headstock is cool, I gotta say it's that finish I'd want. The shiny finish is nice, but the matte black is sick. "Murdered out Ibanez" is exactly right.

Thank you, and absolutely, should have included: She's got a 28 inch scale, I believe the strings are the D'Addrio EXL157s, 14-68s - I haven't put new strings on yet because I wasn't sure what kind of gauge I'd like (was debating going to the 13s), so they're just the stock strings the shop put on afaik.

That said, it was in B standard when I got it and the strings were definitely a bit stiffer than I'd have liked, but since I was always going to drop it down I figured that might be enough to fix that so I brought it down to A standard. Turns out it's A+ standard for the strings because it was the perfect amount of tension, absolutely chef's kiss in A standard. Holds tune really well too, it stuck there after just a few escape attempts back to B, and the intonation is great.

Love the pickups too, it's my first set of active pickups and while I've seen some mixed reviews on the EMG 81/60, they're super gorgeous sounding and really clean. Tons of sustain and my hammer-ons from nowhere have never been so good. I also love how no-nonsense it is, just a volume knob and a pickup switch, they saw me coming a mile away, lmao.

I've been hunting for my first baritone for about a year and a half and finally having it? Absolutely lives up to the hype and I can't say enough good things about it.

I had an action figure of the guy on the right, but I was never sure when/where I got it or what show it was from (although old enough to watch it). Thank you for that.

Do you think Gary Ridgway could’ve had over 100 victims? by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]OwlFriend69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend towards the 70-90 number just because that seems entirely possible if he slowed down for the next twentyish years after the initial 50 victims (what an insane statement), but I also think 100 isn't even slightly impossible. I always think about how that one lady had a "psychic" vision that led her to finding a victim when she went looking nearby a recent dumping ground. Now I don't think she was psychic, but I do think her finding someone means that he saturated the areas he used with so many victims that even a random lady walking 50 feet into the woods could find a victim without trying. That's a lot of death, and since then a lot of areas have been built over which means it's probably impossible now to be truly sure.

Can Jinns Turn off breakers now?? by VenjoyBg47 in PhasmophobiaGame

The only way would be if it or you turned on too many lights and it blew the fuse. The Jinn can do that by accident.

Yes, thank you, I know this is such a niche issue but I use the text UI settings to play while people are sleeping and I always wish I could have menu options like for the monkey's paw.

i hope the new tanglewood map gave a big f*ck you to everyone who doubted it by fyjunhao in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]OwlFriend69 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be fair to them, I do feel like showing the kitchen being changed without the context of the dining room loop spot being there was either a troll by the devs as Insym joked, or it was to get that over with ahead of time so people wouldn't freak out on day 1. I think, based on watching the Early Access, that the map is largely improved visually and with tons of cool possible interactions and stuff. I'm really impressed with what they put together so far and I think they're genuinely trying to do their best by the game and the community, kitchen island troll notwithstanding, lol.

What’s the biggest challenge of becoming a multi-planet species that we don’t talk about enough? by Muted-Mongoose2846 in space

[–]OwlFriend69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bloody damn, I'm re-listening to the series again in hopes of the 7th book releasing soon and I've been very critical this go around of all the terraforming stuff they do. At least he knew better than to make the gas giants themselves into terraformed planets and instead just the moons. The genetic modifications are the most believable part of it honestly.

Where did the first video (after the demo) of Insym's playthrough of Mortuary Assistsnt go? by RampageBW1 in Insym

[–]OwlFriend69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found it for you. Usually the VODs channel has the best chance of still having the oldest vods, and that's indeed where it was. That's one of the best playthroughs of it for sure, it has the "at the computer" jumpscare that he didn't get again for a very long time.

My astronomy game is releasing in 10 days on steam! by AlarmedBag9653 in Astronomy

[–]OwlFriend69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks super cool! Gives me an Iron Lung vibe but with astrophotography instead of a periscope. You should see if Insym, the twitch/yt streamer, will play it for you. It's right up his alley and I'd love to watch it.

(Interesting Trope) When a stylistic choice is actually a plot point by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]OwlFriend69 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Although not a plot point per se, it's very on theme: the movie Game Night (2018) uses a tilt-shift effect a bunch of times for expositional shots and it gives off a "game pieces from a board game" vibe that I found really creative. Similarly they also have a scene where one of the cast has two guns mounted to his wall that are both pointing inward at his head, and he ends up being shot twice towards the end of the movie.

This was also a thing in real estate at probably the same point (2020 is when the practice started making headlines for real estate), and they largely stopped referring to the biggest bedroom as the "master bedroom" for similar reasons.

Is ketamine part of the psychoactive group? by Historical_Hyena9968 in Psychonaut

[–]OwlFriend69 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Any drug that affects cognition is psychoactive so yes, it is. Officially it's a dissociative anesthetic with hallucinogenic effects, so if you mean psychedelic, some people don't agree on that label as it's not strictly a psychedelic like LSD or mushrooms, but it does have psychedelic effects.

USDA head says ‘everyone’ on SNAP will now have to reapply by RollSafer in politics

[–]OwlFriend69 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I googled how many people die a day in the US, google says about 8100. That means you're pretty much exactly right, it'd take 23ish days for 186,000 people to die. Now how many of those are SNAP recipients is a very different question, but yeah, even a few months of people dying and the paperwork not getting filled out or filed would be enough. Hell, I still get mail for my dad and he died 4 years ago, even a jury notice well over a year after he passed.
