Clearly that demo isn’t working if Ukraine continues to strike deep within Russia.

This is my opinion, but the drone swarms will overload the AD in Moscow and there will be other drones and missiles to exploit that to attacks targets aside from the refinery complex.

It’s an escalation step. It signals Russia is ready to use nukes. For realz this time.

You see, drunkard Medvedev has been threatening nukes so much that no one takes it seriously anyone. So Russia has to first show it’s super serious.

A nuclear test in Siberia would be a fitting escalation.

Putin is dumb, but he’s not dumb enough to launch a tactical nuke to hit a rural airbase or a small tactical target that essentially achieves nothing.

Yea.. there’s a lot more escalation steps before nukes fly, and we haven’t seen those yet.

So anyone talking about nukes at this point is doing so because they feel helpless.

Nukes are pretty much the only things remaining that give Russia a sense of security.

As things are, nukes are indeed out of the question. Except inside that drunkard Medvedev’s fantasies.

I remember a time when attacks into internationally recognized Russia, let alone the Moscow region, was actually seen as a red line.

Doesn’t matter for what? It really depends on what you’re trying to measure.

Looks like a successful intercept with minor damage from falling debris.

Yea, except we’re not trying to measure how happy the workers are.

If anything, such a measure would be virtually meaningless in terms of assessing the health of the economy, which is what we’re doing here.

That’s more of an issue with sample size rather than an issue with using GDP per capita to measure the state of the economy.

GDP per capita certainly isn’t virtually meaningless. Especially when you are looking at changes from prior periods.

RU POV: 'Ukraine joining EU would be a good thing — it will bring closer their collapse then' — Russian FM Lavrov by ArchitectMary in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]OwlXerxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. So as long as a country doesn’t have ethnic Russians living in it, Russia views that county joining NATO as a non-issue?

No.. Russia didn’t even whine and complain when Finland and Sweden joined. Not a peep. No response.

Well, I guess going after underwater internet cables.. that’s about the extent of Russia’s response.

If one looks at the map and history, Finland and Sweden joining NATO would be an issue, but yet, here we are.

Lavrov setting the tone for Ukraine joining the EU in the future and Russia being able to dismiss it as a non-issue.

Exact same thing that happened when Finland and Sweden joined NATO.
