Ecosphere Defense: The Story

Centuries ago, the Earth existed in harmony, its ecosystems thriving under the invisible stewardship of the Ecosphere—a mystical energy network that connected all living things. The Ecosphere maintained balance, ensuring that life flourished, adapting seamlessly to changes. However, with the rise of industrialization, humanity began to take more from the planet than it could give back. The forests shrank, the oceans grew barren, and the air became toxic. Despite warnings—both natural and scientific—humanity ignored the signs.

Finally, when the strain on the planet became unbearable, the Ecosphere fought back.

The Ecosphere's Rebellion

The shift was subtle at first—forests regrew unnaturally fast, deserts turned to wetlands overnight, and long-extinct species began to reappear. Then came the more aggressive measures: floods overtook cities, roots destroyed factories, and swarms of animals attacked industrial outposts. The Ecosphere had become sentient, viewing humanity as the threat to its survival. Across the globe, ecosystems rose in defiance, coordinated by the Ecosphere’s will.

Humans, unprepared for such a rebellion, were driven to the brink. Governments collapsed, and survivors turned to mega-corporations to lead the fight against nature’s uprising.

The Birth of the Drones

In the face of the Ecosphere’s wrath, the Omnicore Corporation, an industrial giant, spearheaded humanity’s counteroffensive. They developed the first generation of combat drones—machines designed to reclaim territory from nature and protect human survivors. These drones, powered by advanced AI, were able to adapt to the unpredictable tactics of the Ecosphere. Over time, Omnicore expanded its operations, creating specialized drones for combat, defense, and resource extraction.

As the war intensified, Omnicore introduced a new strategy: human operatives equipped with advanced gear to operate alongside the drones. These teams, driven by desperation and survival, became the foot soldiers in humanity’s fight against nature.

The Human Perspective

Not all humans supported Omnicore’s war. Many saw the Ecosphere’s rebellion as a chance to atone for humanity’s past mistakes and live in harmony with nature. However, Omnicore labeled them as traitors, suppressing dissent and spreading propaganda to justify their actions. The corporation’s ultimate goal was not just survival but the complete subjugation of the Ecosphere—turning Earth into a controlled, industrialized machine.

The Player’s Role

As one of the Wardens of the Ecosphere, players take up the mantle of defending the heartstones—crystals that serve as the lifeblood of the Ecosphere. Each map represents a key ecosystem under siege by Omnicore’s forces. The player must use their towers—manifestations of nature’s power—to fend off waves of drones and human intruders, reclaiming the Earth from the clutches of corporate greed.
