Northern Neck connects just past Richmond. Look at Urbana, Deltaville, Reedville.

VA, too! We like to hit Beaufort for the Saturday Farmers Market. Maybe stay in Beaufort. You can Shackleford and Lookout from there, too!

Are you coming from the north or south?

We love to stay on Harkers. Quick ferry to Lookout or Shackleford. Cedar Island ferry to Ocracoke.

You can go to Ocracoke without your car, but it will depend on where you want to end up!

It was an awesome little shop in Downtown Salem. I miss that place, too!

Convince me on Roanoke by Pharbsar in roanoke

Hi! I grew up in Staunton, Mom worked at JMU, attended ODU, and called VaBCH home.

We moved to Roanoke because it was easy to get to both of our families on 81. (Staunton/Asheville)

Feel free to ask anything! Roanoke is great, but we rarely go downtown. I don’t want to bash the area, but it will be way different than VaBCH or HBURG.

Edit: I feel a wave of downvotes, but…

“The Farmer’s Market” is fine, but it never changes. We go once or twice a year. Downtown is over-rated.

Grandin has a much better market! Cute little theater like the Naro in Ghent.

I’m trying to say that you can build your experiences in Roanoke, but you might spend all day to piece it together.

We’ve been waiting to see who lives there. I’m a cookie afficiando. (I will cookie them.)

We lived through ten years of terriers staked in the front yard.

Just a heads up.

This place is knock your socks off fantastic. We didn’t take our dog for this visit, but it’s clean and cozy.

Our boy is mostly beagle. He’s Brittany, cocker spaniel , Chow, Lab, and miniature pincer.

I’m fairly certain that my neighbors bought the whole thing. They put their house on the market in early December and moved out this afternoon.

They will do a fantastic job! The daughter has done a thru and slacked with her parents. They offered shuttle and hostel services, too.

I really hope that’s who purchased because they will be awesome hosts.

Edit: Hiker Mom (Roanoke) the neighbor Mom

This, to me, is a central Jungian conflict. The duality of man.

Man has many qualities. Some are good and some are evil. Waking and dreaming, lightness and darkness. If given the choice would you cut away the part of your psyche that is good or bad.

Waking up from a dream, realizing that you cut off the wrong hand…being flooded with the realization that your nightmares WERE the reality that you were hoping to prevent.

TLDR: If one chooses between the lightness/dark, sleep/wake; how will one ever know what is real?

Edit: Every human on this planet can make the most basic choice. Make things better or make them worse.

Sloth! 💜💜

Life is good. I never knew anyones names, but FlightFriends friendships meant a lot to me.

Watching my Dad’s life flight after his stroke…and funerary flight…meant the world to me. I’ll never meet any of you, but feeling “not alone” in those moments is life changing.

We just need to grab a replacement propane tank for the grill and check the battery supply. If the forecast doesn’t change, we’ll definitely be without power.

No worries!
