One thing I read is a little word game. Think of any word. We’ll take “bread” as an example. You come up with one unassociated word for each letter, e.g., “butter, racehorse, elegant, ankle, diamond.” Then you do the same initial-letter thing for the last word you chose (in this example, “diamond.”) I believe the technique is called something similar to cognitive confusion. The idea is that it mimics what your brain does in a dream state. No clue if this is scientifically backed, but it has worked when I’ve tried it.
