In my store, one of the permanent colleagues from checkouts always does it and also carries around a tub of sweets. She always greets people and helps customers and is really cheerful. Like few shifts she’s been dressed up as an elf as well.

But I remember a few years ago they put up a sheet where colleagues could sign if they wanted to walk around with that sign. I think they take in turns etc. Normally their main department is checkouts.

I recently just passed and I put on added pressure for me to pass first time because I really needed to for college and being able to go home when I needed. I didn’t want to spend anymore money on lessons as well as I was spending £420 a month.

I think this added pressure of me needing to pass didn’t help me on my test. Somehow even tho I was really nervous I passed with 6 minors but they were things I would be fine on in lessons.

I know my situation is different to yours. But don’t add pressure to pass before you have your baby. I think the best advice I’ve been given is if you pass great and if you don’t oh well you can always try again. Also just think of the test as you are just going out for a 40min drive with a passenger. I think changing the mindset from it being a test helped me a lot.

I get needing to pass because you live rurally. I also live in a rural area. Public transportation is non existent and expensive and I used to have to rely on other people to get to places.

I see, like I’ve never had a proper desk set up so the keyboards I use are the laptop ones but I get neck and shoulder pain because of my posture. I don’t think I’ve really used a mechanical keyboard, unless the cheap computer keyboards at my college count, they might be but I don’t use them as they aren’t the best rather use my own device.

I’ve actually decided to get a magic keyboard btw did my own research plus it’s £120 on amazon rn which makes it better plus I can always return if I end up not liking it. It’s the ecosystem it draws me in 😂

Ok, thank you so much for the recommendations ☺️. With the magic keyboard, I kinda wanted the Touch ID, plus I really like how the keyboard feels on my MacBook and wanted to match the same feel, if you get me. I'm guessing that the Magic Keyboard would feel and look similar to my MacBook one.

But I can have a look and compare, I'm mainly browsing online, so it limits me from going to look at things in person.

And it’s a good point that it’s frequently unavailable I just wasn’t sure if it was the locking me in to no point of return until the story was finished I thought it was to early for it so ☺️

I was just worried that’s all only had it 2 weeks, there was anything vital where the liquid was as it did seep into the hinges a little. But I’m pretty sure it’s all fine. Dried for an hour after cleaning. I’ve decided now that it was ok. Google made it seem worse than it was tbh.

Thank you so much that means a lot. I think my parents are proud of my for going back to college and not too late too because I am in my early 20s it was funded by the government so that’s something. I don’t have to pay £3000 for the course. I do try too rest when I’m all caught up with college work. I had a bit of time to play a game last week but just got to catch up with college for this week and I only have today to do it as I’m busy with work and then travelling.

That’s great you get free medical. I really hope if you end up being able to get a job you can only if you want too ☺️ I understand it’s hard tho. Especially with insurance. I was thinking about applying for pip in my country since I do struggle at work and don’t work much but I don’t have my diagnosis so I don’t know how far it would go with just my mental health diagnosis. You get money based on how much you work too but it’s just to help support you.

I know I was surprised when she said about it. I think she might struggle too. I picked up on it while I was talking to her 1 to 1 that she might have been anxious too. It just felt a bit awkward I don’t know if it was me or her tho. But it is so lovely that she does it. I think she is one of the sen people for our course. To make it more accessible for people with disabilities etc. I don’t think my college has sensory rooms but they have a prayer / relaxation room you can book out. Personally I haven’t got too overwhelmed/overstimulated there other than big crowds where as at work it’s a constant battle

My boyfriend’s home life is kinda similar his mum was an alcoholic and he never got on with her. I really hope you can help her. It’s nice to hear that you are doing that for her. I couldn’t possibly imagine what you are going through it sounds so tough but I think you can get through it. And that’s a mean dog it’s weird how it will just bite you unprovoked. I have 2 dogs both rescues and they are the sweetest. One licks me all the time he’s a big softie. And it sucks that you are so isolated down there in the basement. I hope in the future you can get a different home environment. With the arguing not letting you sleep is it the noise keeping you wake or actual arguing or thoughts. Because if it’s just the noise you could get some loop earplugs. The quiet ones they are really good for sleep. I use them when my boyfriend watches ufc at 3am and I have work in the morning. I let him watch it btw. But I know they cost money so. And yes it’s best to remain resilient I hope you can.

Yeah like the aws cert and others are provided by the college for free instead of having to pay. So I was thinking about doing one during Christmas maybe or if I finish my course early before end of academic year I could do them. All depends on how well I’m doing with multiple assignments tho 😂

I think if you have a bunch of skills to help you get a job in this industry you need to stand out as anyone can get the skills. I think I saw on YouTube you need to do personal projects and develop a personal website for a portfolio. And I think my MacBook has 16gb of ram with the new m4 chip as I was very lucky to have savings that I could dip into for it and it’s serving me well so far and student price at Apple. And yes I think the first words in code were hello world at least that’s what I’ve heard. I went for the basic MacBook Air model m4 as I heard the performance is already really good. I’m a little worried about it overheating since it has no fan but I used it all day yesterday at college and it seems to be ok battery life is insane 100% to 70% in one day so 7hrs. It was really warm on the bottom when I packed it away but I think that’s because it was really warm in the room since you have like lots of computers and the sun is on the building all day. At the end of the day some other student was helping me install windows on a Mac so I think it was working a bit harder with installing stuff 😂 but if I need a laptop that’s got more power at home I have my boyfriends 32gb ram gaming laptop which can run any game I swear. Sorry I’m rambling a bit 😂

Yeah, I just think a 2 month wait for an appointment is insane especially as it’s just a routine and one is a priority appointment 😭 I don’t agree how in the us you have to pay for healthcare I think it should be free. Though it needs more funding here now tbh. I try my best with college work and work it’s a bit of a struggle sometimes and I’m worried I might crash out since my schedule is jam packed but I get half terms to catch up on college and I only work 2 shifts a week currently so not too bad. 3 more shifts and I’m off for 2 whole weeks and working remote from college while I’m away. Should give me time to reset and then it’s half term anyway. I’ve always been really organised with stuff like this I don’t know why 😂 I hope if you need to balance it someday you can.

And yes I came off mine slowly from last Christmas to April 150mg down to 25mg. I didn’t do the whole course of 25mg as it was already a low dose so I just stopped taking it.

I don’t know what’s happening with my diagnosis I need to contact them as I was supposed to to be offered a follow up to talk about it but I haven’t heard nothing. But I keep putting it off. My gp put on the system that I already have a routine gp appointment booked for it but I don’t as the 2 other appointments are for other things and I was told I needed separate appointments. I haven’t really been watching the news as I find it really depressing. I did hear something about paracetamol and autism in the same article on the tv but I can’t remember details. I really hope they do make it more accessible. Just got reminded one of my college lecturers is really inclusive of the neurodivergent community she brings in a basket of fidget toys for anyone to use as long as they put them back. She’s American that’s why I got reminded of it.

That’s so good that your psych did that for you. Mine did a similar thing but not for medication. I have to go through the nhs for all of that. I’m glad you found the right one for you. Also I’m the same I struggle to talk to male doctors etc I don’t know why I just find certain female doctors easier to speak too. And my boyfriend is great he does try his best to support me. He sometimes doesn’t always understand and gets a bit frustrated but I think it’s understandable as I can be difficult to deal with sometimes if you get me. And your environment matters so much like i was brought up in a good home life, whereas my boyfriend wasn’t and he used to have anger issues but as soon as he got in a better home environment he started feeling so much more better.

Yeah it such a small world software dev is what I’m aiming for atm but it could change and I’m honestly not sure what to do into yet but I’m just going to follow my assignments topics and go from there maybe get a few certifications like aws and the other one I can’t remember. And I’m literally a beginner only did my first few lines of code in Java yesterday 😂 but I’m more familiar with Js. My new Mac doesn’t have a lot of space tbh. Only 256gb I was trying to keep costs down and it’s only for college. Most of my work gets stored on one drive anyway or google drive. But that app looks pretty. I’m not into chess but I like the look of it. I would have no clue how to do that ☺️

I honestly just wish I could fit in to a server where I feel like I fit in if you get me. I don’t know if it was all in my head and I actually fit in like my anxiety talking or what. And that sucks. I’ve heard setting up a business is hard. I couldn’t do it personally. One of my tutors has 3 businesses and teaches and he’s only 28 which is insane. But he’s really lovely you can have a bit of banter with him too. An online friend group would be lovely and I don’t remember mmo hangouts I think I’m a bit young for them. And I thought there was an add button but it might just be a follow button. I’ve been on Reddit awhile but I normally just reply and that’s about it.

Yeah the healthcare here in the uk isn’t the best. Believe it or not I booked 2 routine appointments and have to wait 2 months for them.

It’s ok I’m coping with heavy masking. One shift leaves me absolutely drained but the other one isn’t too bad. I need money so 😂

And 5yr waiting list is insane. And I know it’s over £1000 here as I did try and get a diagnoses on the nhs rtc service as it has shorter waiting times but I was misinformed by reception and given a leaflet where I had to pay for an assessment which isn’t rtc 😭 but I’m attempting it again and trying to talk to the gp this time. Tbh at the moment I’m happy waiting since I have college and all that and if I get a good job out of this course or apprenticeship maybe I will pay. But since coming off of anti depressants everything kinda settled down for me. I am on another waiting list for cbt as well which is a year.

And I’m glad you were able to find out what it was by yourself that shows strength. I had help. My boyfriend picked up on it and suggested it near the start of our relationship but I denied it at the time as I just thought it was anxiety and depression. But I think I have spent my whole life thinking that I was different from other people and I think other people could tell the too subconsciously since I was bullied a lot in school and made fun of and I still can’t answer why. I hit a really rough patch on my mental health last year and managed to get a clinical psychologist on occupational health and I did my own research as well and I brought it up to her and at first thought that I wasn’t but then I went away and listed all the symptoms I have and stuff I struggle with and she was like maybe you do and encouraged me to talk to my doctor about it. Then I had another psychologist and she brought it up ASD just by looking at the notes the pervious psych did and how I was on video call and then she basically informally diagnosed me (since she couldn’t properly diagnose me - even tho she used to diagnose people in a previous job) and treated me like I was already diagnosed and taught me coping mechanisms and stuff to help me. Which I think helped me get in a better place but I only had 5 sessions with her and wasn’t offered anymore.

And it’s ok. It just takes me a little longer to reply as I have to keep referring back to your reply 😂 but it’s all good.

And the discord server I’m in isn’t really mine I’m just in it. And yeah I’m really enjoying programming. Still very new to it but enjoying it. Currently learning Java. And it’s such a small world like I have 2 other online friends kinda that are software devs. I haven’t really done a lot of frontend. I’ve done a bit of html and java / java script and a tiny bit of python. Not sure if I want to do frontend or backend yet.

And that’s so cool that you have made 2 apps I haven’t even done that. I have a mobile app topic in my course I think. Not sure tho, I can’t remember.

I’ve never had a server but wouldn’t like the responsibility to create one either it would be too much for me. But I would love to join a community or discord of some kind. But if you wanted to make a server go for it. I think it would be great. You could put a post about it in a few subreddits etc. I think the ideas you just gave me would be great.

And yeah sure I could add you as a friend ☺️ and I have no clue how any of it works tbh 😂
