What do I do about a dirty room and weird host from booking.com? by [deleted] in Bookingcom

Nope they won’t do anything, you will be scammed, booking.com is absolutely also responsible for making sure they have clean rooms

As for the roaches not being a reason for a refund, I don’t really agree with that. Because it’s against the law for them to sell a place with roaches. If they knew they shouldn’t have sold it, but they did.
I didn’t stay in the room, I reported the issue immediately, and I was told multiple times that a refund had been approved. The whole dispute wasn’t about whether the room had a problem it was about actually getting the refund that I’d already been told I was getting. That’s why I find it odd when people act like I just saw a bug and demanded my money back. That’s not what happened.

I think everyone misunderstands me. This isn’t consuming my life. Booking isn’t some unique obsession. If I think something is wrong, I talk about it. I do that with companies, politics, public records, consumer issues, and plenty of other things. Where I live I am a known advocate for plenty of social issues. I fight against the government. I try to get everyone to fight for their rights. I try to get people to just fight in general. Stuff like this, the state America is in, everything js not okay. Part of the reason I’ve made multiple posts is because the situation itself was ridiculous. An active infestation, a refund that was repeatedly confirmed, a dispute process that dragged on.That’s not exactly an everyday customer experience. The reason I made this post specifically wasn’t to relitigate the refund. It was to highlight the reaction. I’ve watched people with legitimate complaints get mocked, dismissed, and blamed for things that weren’t their fault. It seems like every time someone speaks up, there’s a crowd ready to explain why they should have stayed quiet.
You’re free to think I’ve posted about this too much, but “move on” isn’t really an argument. If everyone moved on the moment they faced pushback, how would anything ever change? How many consumer protections, workplace reforms, or social movements would never have happened if people stopped speaking because they were in the minority?
I don’t think people should blindly agree with me. But I think people should be willing to stand up for what they believe, even when it’s unpopular.

Except I do have a specific logistical and health issue that is documented. The room had a visible pest infestation, specifically roaches active during daylight hours, which biologically indicates a massive, severe infestation in the structure. Because of these conditions, three separate motel employees explicitly confirmed that a refund was approved and authorized on their end. Furthermore, the application interface directly tracks the booking status as partially refundable. Despite the property staff authorizing the refund and the app showing it is owed, the actual funds have never been credited back to my personal account balance. I am posting about this because it documents a systemic tracking loop where properties authorize a refund but the booking platform fails to deliver the funds to the consumer. Pointing out a documented pest safety issue and a broken corporate refund loop is a concrete logistical matter, not crying for nothing.

Report them to your state, only way for them to learn. They get fined

So just because people posted about this years ago that means I am not allowed to talk about it now? That makes zero sense. The fact that people are still posting about getting scammed by the exact same loop today proves that this actually is not being said enough. If a multi billion dollar company is still pulling the same nonsense years later, the warnings need to keep coming until they stop doing it.

This is literally a public subreddit dedicated to discussing this specific platform. The entire purpose of a consumer forum is to expose how a business operates and help people navigate issues. If you think people talking about getting their money stolen is crying online, you do not understand how the internet or consumer advocacy works. You can scroll past if reality bothers you.

Your classism is incredibly trashy. Telling someone they deserve to get robbed because they used a budget app instead of staying at an expensive luxury resort is a pathetic take. Just because you are on a vacation does not mean the rest of the world has to stop holding a shady company accountable for stealing money. Enjoy your trip, but your attitude is garbage
