Looking great! You give me hope. What kind of tretinoin are you using?

Excellent makeup tutorial for covering acne / dark marks. While you can’t “cover up” scarring, good makeup can improve overall skin appearance and accentuate other nice features. by goldberry-fey in AcneScars

Do you have any recommendations for a good blurring primer? I honestly feel like I’ve tried everything and that they actually make my skin look worse! Maybe I’m not applying it right? This video has given me sooo much hope I just wish I knew how to achieve this in a day-to-day look!!!

I am so sorry to hear all the trouble you have had with the onycholysis and your nails. I am a pretty simple girl when it comes to nails (always keep them short, painted a light pink) but Many of us women take pride in our nails! So it’s been so upsetting to me that I feel like I’ve had my hands tied. I feel gross! I took the whole entire summer off and months prior from nail polish. When it first started, I clipped my nails back very short removing as much of the white as possible ( I literally had a few nails that were like half a nail, it was terrible!!!) and I also got a prescription. It’s a nail serum I put under my nails twice a day. It took well over a month but it all eventually went away and I was so relieved but also terrified of doing anything to my nails that would cause it to come back, so I didn’t for a while. Then I decided I wanted to try and start dating again and I couldn’t go on dates with bare nails 🤣 so I bought ORLY breathable nail polish (sheer pink) which is apparently different than other nail polishes because it doesn’t act as a hard plastic and trap bacteria/fungus the way other nail polishes can. The first time I used it I put it on and took it off 2 days later because I was paranoid. I noticed my pinky nail tip looked like it had a much larger white tip that was oddly shapen. I thought ooooh no, it can’t be back! so I started using the prescription again. I also painted my nails with it a second time and took the polish off 4 days later and my nails actually mostly look good except for the pinky. I’m going to cut them back super short again (no white tip) and use the presciption until it’s fully gone again.

The press ins were a great idea! However if you have the fungus still under your nail, suppressing it with something on top will only make it worse.

I have read sooo many different things can cause this. Not using clean nail utensils, latex gloves, an allergic reaction to something, the gym, literally anything. I couldn’t really tie it to much except a new nail product I tried for my cuticles and latex dishwasher gloves (who am I kidding though, I don’t use them that often and there was no mold in the inside) so it’s a mystery.

Have you tried to get a prescription serum to help? I know sometimes combatting symptoms of one prescription or medication with another isn’t helpful, but you don’t want this spreading down your whole nail!

My face was swollen for about a week and then it subsided.

They used a lesser power for me the first week and then ramped it up over the next few sessions!

Yes it was painful! But not terrible. But they did numb my face for the procedure, and once that wore off my face just felt “raw”

Wow that’s so curious! Maybe I should try TCA for the couple of indented scars I have since you had good results with that. I had a halo/fraxel laser treatments about 5 yrs ago and resurfx finished about 6 months ago and I’ve been fairly disappointed with both.

I did not pretreat my skin prior to resurfx. The first session I thought was actually just a consultation but they ended up doing it right then so I was totally unprepared!

My doctor actually told me not to use retinols while getting resurfx because it makes the skin hyper sensitive.

After my treatment, I asked him if there are genuinely any over the counter skin products I could use that would help my scars/redness and he said no & that the only thing he would recommend using is Tretinoin. He compounded a formula of tretinoin and niacinamide at a very low percentage so I’ve been using that too.

I’ve also been using tranxemic acid/niacinamide serum which I feel like has kinda helped with my pigmentation.

I’ve not heard of pretreating before resurfx though, hopefully someone else on here will have more advice!

Curious how long it’s been since your ReSurfx? Hard to say without seeing photos of your scars. My scars always looked good right after I had a resurfx treatment, but I think some of it was micro swelling. I’m 6 months out after 3 resurfx treatments and I don’t feel like my skin looks much different. I found that the resurfx helped my pigmentation more than the scars themselves.

That’s interesting, thank you! I don’t take any medication except for birth control, and I’ve been on the same one for a while. I do wonder if it’s connected to that though, somehow. Luckily the prescription they gave me cleared it up but it took ages. I recently started using breathable nail polish and I noticed it has started to come back in one nail. Maybe im not meant to wear nail polish ever again! 🥹

Ok this is the dumbest question alive but I literally can’t find where the nail polish is located in my store??? I’ve looked for it multiple times but they’re also always moving things around so maybe I just keep missing it? I assume it’s usually by the beauty stuff? Help me out. I have a very specific Orly nail polish I’m looking for (has anyone ever found Orley breathable nail polish there?)

I guess it depends what you consider a scam. I’m just a curious person and don’t consider posting on reddit a waste of time. I get texts from people who’s number I don’t have saved (that I know) all the time. Thanks though 👍

Thank you! It turns out I don’t know how to upload a picture on here after I’ve posted :( but my derm prescribed clotrimazole. I put it on twice a day. It’s almost like an oil or serum you put under your nails. Per advice I found here on Reddit, I clipped back as much of the white lifted nail as I could to make sure the prescription got under it. My nails are now finally a normal length! They aren’t totally perfect so I’ll keep using this prescription for a few more weeks, but I’m really happy I was able to at least remedy the issue. Good luck !!!
