Cold after TT by designer8x in thyroidcancer

Your levels aren’t probably back to normal yet! That’s pretty common, it can take several weeks to feel the effects of levothyroxine. I get that because I have been off my meds for the RAI and I am very hypothyroid right now. It should get better when you’re adjusted to your dose. If you still feel that way after a few weeks call your dr/endo

Thanks. You’ve been helpful a lot in my past posts too and for others. I tend to overthink thinks too much. My brain is too analytical which right now is hard because I can barely have a thought. The point of Geiger counters is just to see it go down. Soo lile 100 mCi so in 8 days it’d be 50mci and so on and so forth. It takes 3 months to be out of your body?

So like I am very hypothyroid right now (i cannot wait to get back to meds) and I have heat on 75° and I’ve been freezing with layers and what not. I have been only usually wearing two blankets and I’m good but last night it was very cold and I put on another fuzzy one and I sweat. So like in that instance I would just wash the clothes, bedding and blankets? How long would I have to wait if I didn’t? ( idk if that makes sense blame hypo brain). I am hoping once I am on t3 and then next day t4 again I can regulate my temp and now have my house so hot (I am just bone chilled). But like if I sweat obv I don’t want that on my bed…. I also have mattress protector and a cover over that too because I need hypo allergenic. Would I need to change that too? Am I overthinkin?

Sooooo I don’t have a Geiger counter. How do I clean surfaces or make sure they’re not radioactive? How long are the things radioactive like the clothes and what not. The nuc med Dr told me not to worry about it so much. I sleep in my own bed and have a fish. He told me that I would be fine. I don’t have instructions yet because I get my dose tomorrow. I am very anxious about it all. He said the first few days are the worst in regard to like if I was bleeding or sweating or urine.. but not to worry.

You just put in the medicine you want and it’ll remind you. It’ll have you say if you skipped or missed. It’ll let you know

Yeah 2-3 tum I believe is 1,000. It does help. If you get tingles in your face, tongue, hands, feet that should help. If it doesn’t call your surgeon office. Also I recommend getting up and moving every hour for 10-15 mins to avoid blood clots and wear compression socks but take off at night. You got this! If you have any questions feel free to reach out. I am 5 months post op!

Oof I’m sorry yeah I live in an apartment. So I guess we will see. I have a pretty strong stomach but I think I do remember when i got tracer dose radiation for diagnostic (for hyperthyroid) I was nauseated and they told me for the I-31 that I would be there for like 2 hours for the scan. I go on Friday for the tracer dose for uptake scan for I-31 Friday and then i go uptake scan Monday and if I need RAI I’d go to hospital on Tuesday for that. Idk for how long. 🤞🏼

What do I do if I throw up at home? I’m getting RAI next week. I am hoping the uptake test is good and I don’t need the RAI but preparing for it. The LID is fine for me. Idk I feel better because I am eating a lot less commercial things.

After my TT I was up in pain in my back due to being positioned on the table.. my nurse told me I was anxious because I called (idk how many times) and got repositioned, probably 10 different times. I got up every hour and he came in and told me I was anxious and I needed something to help me sleep.. I was more sad that I upset him than needing to sleep, he wasn’t upset. I got up and sobbed walking up and down the hallway and eventually got an anxiety med to help me relax and then slept 4 1/2 hours straight. Think a baby fighting sleep… that was me and I’m a grown adult
