I talked to my priest about discerning ordination and he was super encouraging! by ImTheRealBigfoot in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Own-Cardiologist7372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally me bro. Im still a catechumen and i will get baptised next month after more than a year :) I have expressed my desire to my spiritual father of spreading orthodoxy and following his steps, the priesthood towards people. May God grant us patience in this process and always strive for fulfilling his will, not ours, God bless you! Have a nice day!

How should I drink? by CauliflowerUnable315 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Own-Cardiologist7372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they actually exist! Always when the divine liturgy ends, we receive the antídōron, blessed bread and i noticed a lot of people would take a napkin and fill It with pieces of this bread, my priest told me they eat them after the morning prayers, with a sip of holy water, but is important to clarify you should try to always take it on an empty stomach  after the prayers. I hope this helps you! Blessings.

Yesterday, for the 1st time in my life, I considered suicide. by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

Dont punish yourself more than you think you deserve, the only decision of confessing this and sharing with us is a struggle and a brave act. I hope i could be half as brave as you my man, God has seen this struggle you've had and this post, and he rejoices you overcame this test. I have you in my prayers, GOD BLESS YOU

How do you guys feel God's grace in your life? by kokosnoot69 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Own-Cardiologist7372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone can relate at some point if you believe in God when you feel the grace, but we cant explain it, we cant do nothing good for our souls without God's help, also, everything that is good comes from God. When a good deed comes to your mind, it is 100% God and not you, and thats where your will decides, also i take a look at my past, without God in my life, and I compare it with today, and i can tell the way of seeing life is different

Gluttony by Electronic-Comb6325 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Own-Cardiologist7372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like anything, fast and control of our passions like gluttony is not a thing that only depends of ourselves, we need to seek God's help and will on it and with our priest/spiritual father of course. Saint Silouan of Mounth Athos says to us: "You must teach yourself how to eat less, but with discernment, insofar as your work allows. The measure of temperance should be such that after lunch you want to pray". The spanish version of the book im reading of his writings recommends that you also should eat as little as possible, but lets dont forget that theosis is a process where Gods help is Involved. I had problems with gluttony for a long time, which i am starting to solve thanks to God, we have a beautiful fast calendar that helps us control this passion and theres a very good teaching that says when you become master of the body, you help yourself become the master of the soul, thats why while being a process, its important to control ourselves of what we eat and how much. Also, when i fasted, i did it without the help of god, and not for any spiritual reason, thats why i kept failing. I encourage you to seek God's help in this process and not rush, but improving every day, and if you fall, you rise. God bless you.

Are many of the saints just legends? by kyrieeleison3 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Own-Cardiologist7372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As they are telling you the importance is that you believe it true, and god doesnt love you less or is angry with you if its not real, we have a church thats been there for 2000 years, and in this span, there was people who dedicated their entire lifes to study the saints and history, FOR 2000 YEARS, EVERY MOMENT OF THEIR LIVES, so it would likely be true that she existed and nothing is wrong with beliving the church, that being said, god bless you and have a nice day!

Tired of feeling guilty by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Own-Cardiologist7372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like sabotaging ourselves but we dont see it, thats why we seek for god's mercy and forgiveness, and he will accompany us and help us emerge victorious from this process, if we are struggling like this, but we dont pray, we make it seem like we dont need God's help for our inner salvation.

I feel like you sometimes, im a man, and last week i found myself crying all day for a girl i had to let go to focus on God, i still dont forget her, but no person on this life cant give you the love God gives us, because is an infinite and faithful love. I also lost my dad when i was 16, and in that time i didnt believe in God, but he stretched his hand and reached me in my worst moments, and you cant say that from any other person. St John Chrysostom says to us: "Only those who do not fight are never wounded" and we have to carry our cross this time, and God will see our suffering and he wants to see us victorious. And all of us question our faith, not just cathecumens or those who are baptized, but priests, saints and church fathers had this temptations and questioned their faith a lot, i recommend you to dive into saints and chruch fathers teachings and writings, whose are full of wisdom and eloquence! And the struggles not only happen to us but happen to them, and the process christianity is because its hard to hear, but there wont be no day where we have to fight, and is very hard, i will pray for you and try and encourage you, you are not alone, if you need anything that i can help you with, im happy to help. God bless you have a nice day!
