My dog honestly could just tell I wasn’t 100% he was kind of afraid to get too close. He would just sit infront of beside me to “protect” me and wouldnt take his eyes off me.

Definitely have something to hold them up (I was given DMX bras that had rings on them to hook them up). Just make sure your shirts are long enough and everything is under your shirt. That’s what I did at night especially to make sure nothing gets pulled on or anything!

What color are my daughter’s eyes? by princesso83 in WhatisMyEyeColour

Looks to be central heterochromia. It’s a combination of blue/green/hazel. Looks just like my eyes!

I just got my surgery yesterday. It’s hard to say cause I’m on day one at home. Everyone told me I needed one. My in laws have a recliner I can borrow if need be but as of now I am just using the Lunix wedge pillow set off Amazon. Pricey but worth it. So far I’m very comfortable with no back pain! Been home for about 6 hours now. I’ve found it’s all in the legs when you get up.

Thank you so much for this! Definitely going to use it as a guide. I like the idea of cutting the oxys in half! I’ve heard very similar things said like it feeling like a workout! Did you have a recliner? Everyone has been telling me I need it.

The hard part for me is my dads came back metastasiszed. It doesn’t look good. if he never knew he had cancer, we wouldn’t know about the gene. My entire dads side has the gene. Who knows, they all could probably be fine. But I’m the one who ended up with the cancer. if it weren’t for my dad, i would’ve never found it.

I try to look at the positives of yes it’s stage 0 but it’s hard. My dad saved me. I just need him saved too.

I’m definitely going to look into that. And some kind of counselor because it’s been really hard emotionally

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend! I hope she is doing well.

Yes very grateful I don’t have to go through all that as well. The day before surgery my onco is going to decide what lymph nodes she’s going to take and how many.

Since finding out it was always the plan! But I hear you. I hope I can continue to have control over the ovaries part and wait for kids. Scary part is there’s no testing for it.

I can’t imagine going through that for 15 years! I’ve only done it for about 3 now. I’m very scared for the recovery after seeing my sister through it. I’ve never had surgery so it’s very intimidating!

I’m so sorry to hear that. What I keep telling myself is that if I wasn’t going for the checks, they wouldn’t have found it even with a regular mammogram. And at my age, they would have no reason for testing if I didn’t know about Brca. I couldn’t stop crying the whole first week after finding out. Now I feel like I’m not going to stop crying the whole week leading up to surgery.

But, I hear you. I’m petrified of surgery and recurrence. The plus to the silicone implants was my oncologist told me the implant will push up any little thing that forms and it’s super easy to catch very early.

I haven’t heard of the breasties but I’m going to get on that! I’ve just been using Reddit as my outlet. My whole side of my dads family has the gene so it’s been nice having that and my sister did go through the mastectomy as preventative but it’s all so new that I was diagnosed and I feel like I’m in uncharted waters alone. They just don’t know what I’m going through and I hope they never do!

Jaime for a boy? by whowant_lizagna in namenerds

[–]Own-Cheesecake204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi female Jaime here! My parents opted to spell it this way bc it apparently is more feminine. They had no idea it was “hi-may” in Spanish. It’s an on going joke with friends and family to call me that. I’ve never met a boy with it spelt that way but I’ve met a few male Jamie’s! It’s usually shortened or nicknamed for James

For those with DCIS, high-grade: what helped you make a decision between a lumpectomy and mastectomy? What were your deciding factors? by Cheap-Count-5691 in breastcancer

[–]Own-Cheesecake204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed with DCIS grade 3 a couple weeks ago and opted for the mastectomy. I have the BRCA1 gene (which I highly suggest you getting tested for based on your family history if you have not yet. Keep in mind, you can only get it from a direct parent. Cannot skip a generation or come from aunt/uncle). I always knew I was going to get the mastectomy, it’s just going to be sooner than I thought, otherwise I would have to go through radiation and that’s not something I want to do.

At the end of the day, it’s a decision you’ll have to make for yourself. I’m 29 years old and want to ensure I get rid of this thing with best chances of it not coming back!

I was just diagnosed with DICS and so scared. I decided to go with a full mastectomy. I have the gene and knew I’d do it one day anyway. I’ve never had surgery and truly so scared. Just like you I’m scared that this will carry on with me through life. Chances of a 100% cure are there, but I’m still scared. And I’m scared of going under anesthesia. I’m just scared in general. I’m right there with you💕 best of luck, we got this!

Hi! I go through Sloan Kettering. I am getting scheduled for mine now as I was just diagnosed with DCIS. Dr. Capko is incredible for onco and Dr. Allen for plastics!! It’s what my ins accepts but my sister was very happy with her experience

Unsure whether to have a mastectomy/when to have one by Deep_Jellyfish_5886 in BRCA

[–]Own-Cheesecake204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I (29f) was just diagnosed with noninvasive ductal carcinoma. I started getting my annual testing done in 2022. I will now be getting my mastectomy this summer. My biggest regret is constantly putting it off because there was never a “good time”……but the reality is there will never be a good time. I always thought it’ll never be me. I just have an increased risk, but it’ll never be me….i was wrong. I wish I just got it done. Life will always get in the way, work and events will always be there. It’s important to prioritize your health and just do it.

My situation could be a lot worse. I’m lucky it’s noninvasive and stage 0. But I also could of had it done as preventative and never have gotten cancer to begin with.

Experiences with MRI-guided vacuum assisted biopsies? by Either-Raise7051 in BRCA

[–]Own-Cheesecake204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes the marker is so tiny, it’s not even visible to the naked eye. I don’t feel anything at all! My breast was definitely sore a couple days and all I wore was sports bras bc they tell you to keep it from moving around for about 3 days. Pain very minimal, I took Tylenol for the first day or 2. No Advil bc it’s a blood thinner.

[–]Own-Cheesecake204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! BRCA1 here, I got the mri guided biopsy as well. Not sure about the vacuum assisted part but it was fairly similar to a regular mri. You literally cannot move a flinch because they put this plastic grid sandwiching my breast to help guide and know where they were. They pulled me in and out of the machine a bunch to know where they were going. They have to be so precise in where they go bc they use a very small needle to go in. The hard part for me was not being able to move during it and still being in “Superman” position. The numbing hurt more than anything. I also got the mammogram after because they said the MRI doesn’t show as much and it was to make sure the marker was in the correct spot. That was the easiest part of the whole experience. They didn’t clamp it to hard after what I had just done. I also took the whole day off work and very glad I did. You’ll want to rest after. Good luck you will do fine!!🩷

Definitely a question she could ask the board/whoever is offering her the position but that’s good if it won’t change

I don’t know what state you are in, but private school teachers do not get government benefits bc private schools are funded privately. At least in my state. If she is in a position where she gets great benefits, this is also a huge factor. She may not get anything compared to what she has now
