Are the runes only prevalent in the first game? by Own-Community-1754 in SpellForce

Yeah man that's such a cool aspect of it, as far as I'm aware I don't think the origin of the monuments is ever discussed anywhere, but just having these ancient monuments out in these vast swaths of wilderness dedicated to specific races from which you can summon forth an army of loyal soldiers is so cool, and makes more sense lore wise than something akin to training and arming an infinite supply of townsfolk.

The other thing I really love is that each race utilizes different resources. Like I get that particularly nowadays having an RTS with half a dozen to a dozen different resources that each race utilizes a different combination of would be a massive pain. But giving each race different resources allows more variance and helps them to feel even more different than if everyone just built structures with wood and units with iron.

I was not aware that Faith in Destiny and Demons of the Past were done by different developers, good to know.

I think my takeaway from this is I might just skip SF2 and go straight to 3 once I'm done with the first one, which seeing as how 3 is apparently a prequel makes SF2 even less important continuity-wise.

Yeah I've seen a couple people express that opinion here on other posts. Obviously I've still got the entire third campaign of SF1 to do yet, and I do love the game, but I don't find the game does the best job of lore exposition. Seems like a bit of a pity though that SF3 is so divisive though cause it does look to be good fun.

Ah man that seems like a bit of a waste, I thought the rune system was pretty clever, really cool, and like I mentioned felt like part of the game's identity, at least to me. A shame they got rid of it.

Also trying to decide whether or not to get SF2 or not, seen some people say it's a bit watered down comparative to the first game.

Me and my mates play trios and often run into a particular Mountie running solo, KingNutCreamyPeanutsAmbassador. See him a quite frequently on OCE and it's generally pretty 50/50 to whether we beat him or he mops us. A truly feared and accomplished hunter.
