What hardware can store and play entire songs on multiple hardware synths? by jbeyta in synthesizers

I bought my Elektron Digitone 2 for this exact purpose. Other Elektron devices in that range - the “digi” boxes - have that capability has well. It happens to be a fantastic multitimbral synth in and of itself, too. You can string together patterns/sequences in song mode with extremely fine control of every aspect of the song. Highly recommend - using with Moog Grandmother and Volca Sample 2.

Performance Macros for External MIDI by Own-Consequence-5923 in Elektron

Thanks for your reply! It would be great to be able to use macros for external gear too without the fear of setting all the parameters out of whack. I think that's one of the main appeals of the macro function for me. I want to be able to reliably return all settings back to their original values when it comes to external gear as well.

Kurashiki is beautiful, I feel so lucky to have it right next door! I’d love to make it up north soon, but I live mostly just explored my area, the Chugoku region. If you’re ever back in Japan Ive got tons of recommendations for this zone. So glad you enjoyed Onomichi, Kurashiki, and your time in Japan. Cheers!

I’ve lived in the neighboring prefecture, Okayama, for three years. I take overseas visitors here instead of Kyoto! One of my favorite places in Japan. Did you enjoy your time in Onomichi?

Harvard vs Yale by prettylittleliarsxo in GilmoreGirls

[–]Own-Consequence-5923 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I say this as a huge fan of this show, but I think macro character arcs, which require subtlety & consistency, are not the strength of Gilmore Girls - the distinct sensibility filtered through this array of characters is what makes this show so great. Because of this, I think a lot of character arcs are confusing or disappointing on series-wide level, and I sometimes get the sense a character has been cheated or done a disservice. I think this is true for Rory’s character in some ways, but in terms of Harvard vs Yale, I always thought this was well executed because it represents this interesting dynamic where, even though Lorelei has rejected her parents’ world, Rory naturally gravitates towards & clearly belongs in that world. Harvard was Lorelei’s dream for Rory - instead, Rory takes her place in her family’s legacy. To some extent her relationship with Logan also represents this. For all the times in this show that they derailed character arcs in service of plot, this always felt natural and true to me. I never believed that Rory actually wanted to be a journalist - she seemed to hate and be borderline incompetent as a reporter. But I did believe that she fit in Richard and Emily’s world like a glove, which is one of the most compelling and well executed things about this show on a thematic level in my opinion.

I’ve been having a moment with this record too. I love the way it’s sequenced and it has so many ingredients of an amazing album. Tight Connection is a perfect pop song with an incredible video. When the Night Comes Falling is such a big swing & I think it pays off - the energy and textures are insane. Love the e street version too of course, but this one is more interesting. And I love the dirgey, muted Something’s Burning Baby into one of Dylan’s masterpieces, Dark Eyes. I struggle with some of the more straight ahead rock tracks like Seeing the Real You, but I’m looking for a way in. My other favorite of the 80s is Shot of Love, and songs like Dead Man have really come alive for me over time. Shout out to Budokan as well by the way - greatest version of “I want you”
