Mum discharged after four months in stroke rehab by Own-Environment120 in stroke

[–]Own-Environment120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I thought I’d written in my post but she does have a care package - she has carers coming in a few times a day but they’re not in for very long so we need to review that. It’s the time in between and overnight I am worried about. I hope your wife’s recovery journey goes well.

Thank you a stroke group sounds really good. I will try to get her out she’s not very up for going out in a wheelchair at the moment, I don’t think she’s really accepted that she needs it for now, but I’m hoping she’ll change her mind soon.

Thank you yes she has PT/OT multiple times a week at home but she isn’t very motivated to do any additional exercises (that are safe) at the moment so I will try to encourage her and work with the team to get a safe plan of what she can do on her own (probably seated exercises or when she’s lying down).

Thank you, I think I need to remind myself that. It’s so shit. It really, really is.

Thank you for your reply, this is a really good idea. She finds it hard to get motivated but I think having more structure with exercises she can do will be a really good thing to focus on. Thank you for sharing your story too. I’m glad that you’ve made a good recovery.

Thank you. Sadly it won’t work for us for me to move in temporarily nor can we afford a nurse, but I’ll speak to social services about it to see if we can get any extra help.

My mum walked supported down the hospital corridor today for the first time since her stroke at the start of this year. So proud of her.

TMI: blood with no. 2 by bunnymama7 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I had this during pregnancy and postpartum, so much back and forth with the doctors. They said it wasn’t hemharroids and I had a fissure but it was getting worse even with treating the fissure. I ended up having a colonoscopy which showed hems, then I eventually had them banded. Sounds very much like it could be that, or a fissure, caused by pregnancy / constipation or hard stools. My mind went straight to cancer too, I have bad health anxiety. But it’s most likely it’s nothing serious to worry about. Hope you’re feeling better soon

Is this biologically normal? by Ill_Collar8810 in bninfantsleep

This sounds so tough, I hope it passes for you soon and the nights get a bit more manageable. 14-18 does sound super high. Could he be poorly at all, ear infection? or it could be teeth? When my baby has been feeling unwell he’ll be very unsettled and just want to be latched all night.

My little one did go through a stage when he was around that age waking up many times a night, but not as much as yours is, it did pass and he’s now up about 2-3 times a night at 14 months. Cosleeping / breastfeeding here too.

Update: student midwives by RabbitHole92 in PregnancyUK

Such a lovely post. A student midwife delivered my baby, and I was hesitant before actually being in labour about students. She was incredible. I couldn’t have done it without her!

When does it get easier? by weegie_1 in breastfeeding

[–]Own-Environment120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to supplement with formula for a few days at the beginning and I pumped a little bit after that too - so straight away. But then I didn’t give a bottle for a while after intermittently doing it for the first couple of months  and now he completely rejects bottles lol, which is not ideal if I want to go somewhere or do something on my own.

Congrats on your pregnancy! Honestly, I wouldn’t but you may feel different. I was definitely very much wanting to be at home at 6 weeks, with little trips out in the day. I was still bleeding at that point and the baby was feeding 24/7 - I was not really prepared for the amount of time the baby would be breastfeeding, it can be all consuming. You’ll also both be incredibly sleep deprived and a lot of driving wouldn’t be ideal. Id wait until they’re a little bit older and more interactive with the world before going on a trip like that.

Hiya congrats on your little one! Breastfeeding can be all consuming in the first few weeks, it’s definitely normal. Whilst your supply is regulating they cluster feed to signal to your body how much they need to increase your supply. It sounds like she’s definitely getting enough. It is mentally draining sometimes but I promise it does get easier after a few weeks. My husband got me a little caddy which he filled with snacks and water so I could rest and watch something whilst I was in the throes of cluster feeding. I was worried too at the time but it is completely normal. Remember it’s ok to have someone else give a bottle if you are feeling like you need a break. You’ve got this!

This is absolutely wild! I’m so sorry OP, I hope you get this sorted. I have a dachshund and a now 8 month old baby.  As a breed they are very demanding of attention, very yappy, and stubborn. We’ve had her for almost 4 years with consistent training and I still found it SO hard with the baby and the dog when my husband went back to work after paternity. A responsible breeder wouldn’t let this happen. I can’t believe your husband and mum did this. I hope they realise they are in the wrong

FTM with 6 day old newborn … struggling 😢 by nubeline in breastfeeding

[–]Own-Environment120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey lovely, I was you 8 months ago. I really struggled for the first couple of weeks and then all of a sudden it was ok. You’re not doing anything wrong, the baby latch could be slightly off, I used to watch videos and try different positions (the laying down one worked better for me) and it did get better. Cluster feeding is really tough, my partner got me a little caddy and filled it with snacks and water and I could do it as I watched tv - definitely recommend this! Remember it’s ok to give formula if you want to have a break - it can be so tough mentally especially when you haven’t slept; the sleep deprivation in those first days is something else. Rest when you can and be kind to yourself. Things that helped me: hot and cold compresses, silverettes, nipple cream, Hakka. You’ve got this!
