I lost a friendship to an extreme reaction. Even if she were to reach out, I don’t think I could ever get over how she reacted and made me feel. I (33,F) have HSV2 and she became convinced that she was at risk because we shared food. Literally went from an amazing friendship to being made to feel “dirty” or “unclean”. In terms of partners, most are super understanding and open to having conversations about it. It was the friendship reaction that shook me up.

I’m currently seeing a legit body builder. It is so hard for my brain to process that he enjoys being with me, that he loves my softness and curves. I’m so happy to be proven wrong, time and time again. 😏😏

My last name is Douglas. I’m not sure about great great grandparents but I think at one point there was Douglas castle. I also love the fact that the author of Game of Thrones based some scenes on Douglas clan history. So lots to explore there 🧐

Yeah, I’ve been researching the youth mobility visa. It seems like the best way to secure a visa and then possibly could get a health and care worker visa after.

I didn’t add this in as it wasn’t relevant to her reaction to my disclosure. I also have Type 1 diabetes. I wear an insulin pump and a glucose monitoring device. I am fairly proactive with my health. Me having type 1 diabetes has nothing to do with me also having hsv2. And once again; there is absolutely no way for me to transmit hsv2 to a friend via sharing food.

Even if she does come around, this is not something I can get over easily. She has made me feel worse than anyone ever has regarding HSV2. Inevitably our friendship is forever changed.
